LDN Blue 7,903
In the midfield he has often very decent games. But about his work ethic I did always notice a clear difference between what we can see in his play, his volume of play, his quality in the last pass, shooting ability (it's not new, he has always had a great shooting ability)... and the critics that were made of him at Chelsea or at Lyon. A TV journalist used to call him Florent Maladroit (=clumsy), did bash him for the habit he had to play backward to Abidal, or the "apparent constatation" that he sorted his games etc. It's not new that he has a surprising important part of people who bash him whereas he is not necessarly a player who makes all to be hatedI'm not saying that all the criticisms are not justified, but I'm surprised by the violence of that critics, fairly often ignoring the fact that his stamina is a kind of guarantee for a manager who can be tempted to play him every games (especially when this manager is Ancelotti) whereas although he has the intelligence to adapt his game to a situation where he has to play very often ; he has physical limits like every ofther player and logically it is felt on the long term...Against Fulham, he orchestrated the offensive animation in the same time as he helped his left back. And when he plays on the wing he is available and although he likes to shoot very often, he keeps that quality in the last pass like he did show last season. Some critics are based but not all that all the whole Malouda bashing would make us believe...Fair do's to your opinion.I just think he's not the player that we think he is. He was brilliant in 09/10 and at the beginning for 10/11. Prior to 2009 he was too inconsistent and showed hardly any promise. He went on to prove us wrong, but within a year he went and did it again (show us the pre-2009 form).I think the bashing criticism on this forum is justified. He is, perhaps, good experience to have on the bench, but he's not the pure-winger we need.
SeB 1,281
Last season he was usefull in another register than the pure winger's one, I do share your opinion on his role, he is not a winger anymore. But I don't agree about the fact that he was inconsistent, Grant did nerver trust in him and used to drop him from the group. For me he has still quality to bring to the team and not only in experience, in the midfield he performs well so it's not a problem if he lasts one or maybe 2 years more

Bosnian Blue 2,471
Never really liked him but after he did this I felt embarassed because of the fact that a guy like Malouda is a part of my CFC. Note: This lad will be out for at least 4 months Amblève.

Bosnian Blue 2,471
Doesn't look intentional though. Just poorly timed.I really can't tell. Would love if your opinion is a correct one, but the more I watch the more it seems like he was never even going to take the ball away and that he deliberately injured this lad.And the funniest thing is - he wasn't even given a yellow. The referee is your main concern.

CHOULO19 24,332
Doesn't look intentional though. Just poorly timed.I think the foul is intentional, but the stomp isn't. In all fairness to the ref I didn't realize how bad the tackle was until the third replay.
TopDrog 119
Florent Malouda today committed his long-term future to Chelsea and believes the club will hand him a new contract because he is getting better with age.http://www.thisislon...golden-oldie.doUnbelievable! What a contract whore! The amount of times he has used the media to beg the club is embarrassing. Could have learnt from other players like Ballack who had some self respect and didn't beg the club every other week to give them a contract. And the worst part is he'll remain the selfish prat on the pitch, trying to score from outrageous angles instead of passing it to a teammate for a tap in! Not to mention his strange behaviour in the final third when Torres is playing! Time for a change and its vital we get rid of the dead wood next summer while we can... francozola, Bosnian Blue, Term-X and 1 other
francozola 2,040
"The amount of times he has used the media to beg the club is embarrassing"Yes! I have been thinking this for so, so long. The fact that he has still not been offered anything is hopefully a sign that the club don't intend to give him a new contract.

TacticalBlues 2,817
Selfish? Florent Malouda (16th) continues to rise up the Castrol EDGE Rankings despite not regularly featuring in Chelsea’s starting line-up this season; in the past 12 months, he has created more chances than any other Premier League player (98). Surprised? we all are

NiclasCFC 2,582
He should do both and not just play well once in every 4 games. Malouda has undoubted quality, he's shown it for us but only ever in spells.1 month at the start of 07/083 months from feb-may 2009first 2 months of 2010/2011Are the most notableKinda late but wasnt his best spell the whole spring 2010 when we won the double?
