The only place to be 11,313
it was an isolated good cross. his record was something like 4/68 successful in January"the target for crosses don't exist" is not a valid argument because as we saw late on vs Everton and vs West Ham, there were plenty of targets. maybe not great headers of the ball but definitely there are bodies in the box. it doesn't have to be a perfect cross to the back post or anything. see assist vs Newcastle when he delivered it on the floor for HazardFor it to be a successful cross, it has to be met by one of our players. Who? You can't just say it's not a valid argument when it absolutely is. Newcastle are shit. They defend poorly, they offered very little that day so of course it was easier for Eto'o to find space. Unfortunately, the vast majority of times Ivanovic crosses it's second or third phase attacks where the defences have reorganised and our first choice of attack (the counter) has broken down. In those instances, we're missing a Drogba to win those headers. Mohammed Seif

Azpi's problem with crossing came when he had no targets and instead looked to cross into space. I think Ivanovic has the same issues, and low crosses tend not to get past the first man because (again) it's against defences who have had time to get back and organise themselves. Vybz Kartel 1,613
To be honest I think a 4 year contract is too much for him, his already in the 30s and likely to lose speed for RB,
Tomo 21,751
If it's 4 years then so be it. The average player for a top team breaks in (the first Xl) about age 22-23 and is about 32-33 when he needs to get reduced to a lesser role, so in short Ivan has probably still got a 3rd off his 'top level' career left and even after he is still an extra experienced head. Also with Cole likely to be gone in the summer and Lamps i would guess summer 15, throwing away an experienced servant for the club when he has probably got a few more seasons before he enters his twilight years would be beyond idiotic. The Skipper 20,609
I would give him two with maybe an option for a third if he plays enough games on his second season. Jase
duo11bluecl 207
4 years on £150k per week even though over 30...Im not sure, he is good but still that should be for the likes of club legends(Terry, Lampard) or best CB in the world at the time. However I trust Jose

No good header in there but there are enough bodies The irony in that pic...One of the best headers of the ball in our team is putting in the cross expecting the likes of Ramires and Lampard to head it in. ...Would have been nice if we made our RB overlap with a central or wide midfielder and exchange positions.... BloodIsBlue 291
I like the over 30 rule for contracts, it shouldn't be broken. If the rule is going to be broken for anyone it will be Terry.

Henrique 9,133
Ivanovic has a really interesting history as a Chelsea player. I still can remember the game that saved his Chelsea career: First game as a right back, first (and 2nd goal) with a Chelsea shirt. Great Hiddink invention. DYC. 7,542
This man does not get the love he should be getting in the football community and even from Chelsea fans. Ivanovic is a club legend/great. Yes I said it. Not in the same bracket as the likes of Zola etc. of course but a great still the same didierforever
