The keeper situation is as dire as the striker situation, Kepa has to go, him and Mendy are fucking woeful.

Mendy was world class for a season at least.

My head is hurting while seeing this.

It's been 6 years since he left Barcelona. A lot of clubs changed their managers during that period and not one has considered him as a serious option. Not PSG, not Barcelona, not the Serie A teams, not even Spurs.

In the meantime, he was the manager of the worst Spanish NT that I can remember watching.

I honestly cannot understand what makes him a candidate for the job.

Well Enrique would be a dream when people calling for Conte who just had a blockbuster meltdown at Spurs.

Others calling for Nagelsmann who just got the boot from Bayern. Would Nagelsmann even take THIS ”project”? I mean, if he takes it and fail he will be done at top level for a couple of years. His age combined with two elite club failures would butcher his reputation.

I think he will wait for the PSG/RM job. There he can harvest immediately.

This job is ideal, you succeed then you smell of flowers and will be sacked and earn millions, if you fail you get sacked and still get millions.

Forget the word project, needs renaming 'trial' as that is what it is under anyone who comes here as manager.

Cannot compare Conte to Enrique. Conte has been constantly good since he took over at Juve.

Completely changed the face of the Italian NT, made Juve great, won the league with Inter, took Spurs into the top 4 and, more importantly, won the Premier League with Chelsea.

He's been successful in many different circustances and the only blockbuster meltdown that he had happened at a club where everyone seems destined to fail.

Don't get me wrong, I do not want Conte as he has a lot of weaknesses (not good in Europe, ready to explode at any time + his second season here), but I would find his appointment way easier to digest than Enrique's.

Unless I'm mistaken, Spurs were already a top 4 side (pretty sure they achieved that with Pochettino a few seasons back...Pochettino even had them playing in the UCL Final...which was well beyond anyone's expectations of Spurs and how they always manage to bottle it in key competitions) and Conte was given good additions to his squad in Romero, Kulu, Bentancur and others.

I agree that Conte is a good manager, I just feel using Spurs as an example of his "good work" is misleading as he had a solid squad to work with and the team shouldn't really be finishing lower than the top 6 in most seasons (with Kane & Son up front).

@Reddish-Blue- Conte didn't change Spurs' status, but they were 9th when he took over (6 points behind the 4th place) and the mood around their camp was dreadful. He did good taking them into the UCL, ahead of Arsenal. It ended sour, but it wasn't that much of a failure.

I can't look back, from what he was and to now is worlds apart.

Sometimes losing a coach or having to work with a new coach can really stuff up a players rhythm and performance, especially Goalkeepers.
I remember Cech spoke about it when he was working with a particular coach under Mourinho and they had a good bond but then Mourinho left and the new manager came in with his own backroom staff and Cech had to build a new relationship with the coach.

I'm not saying Mendy is excused from his below average performances but it wouldn't be the first time that a keeper has lost confidence/motivation after changing coaches.

Took spurs to the top 4? Wow such achievement.

Conte is a one trick pony, that focuses on short term result, things will implode and you have to rebuild again.

Enrique 100x.

Why? I am seriously trying to find a reason why Enrique is a good option.

If what he's done at Barcelona is a reason, then why not add Ernesto Valverde into the mix as well?

I could even argue that Valverde managed to win the league and Spanish cup with a much worse team than what Enrique had at his disposal.
