He compares himself with Arteta but can we see him doing what Arteta did today? I don't think so, he is too nice for that.

This is what top class managers do. Arteta introduced today ESR in mid first half for injured Trossard. He played horrible and in minute 69 he was replaced for Nelson who got minute later assist and winner goal in injury time. Pure masterclass.

Well, you could also say that he f*cked it up by introducing ESR in the first place, instead of Nelson. Also, if we had the luck that Arsenal had lately, we would not be in such a bad position at this point. Very lucky against Manchester United, Aston Villa, Bournemouth and others. We had a ton of bad luck against Dortmund, West Ham, even Spurs. It is what it is, this is football. But things will start going our way once again. I have a feeling that we will defeat Arsenal on their ground and send the title to City.

On a side note, what I liked about Potter yesterday is that he did everything for the win. The change of system, the first 11, the subs. Should've done this way earlier, if you ask me. I understand that everyone wants Chelsea to be a 4-3-3 or whatever team, but the situation is as bad as it can possibly get. Go back to what we know best. Same should be done against Dortmund on Tuesday. Chilwell looked great again and I am sure Reece will cook, should we play a back 3 again. Personally, I am starting to build a bit of confidence.

If we manage to get through against Dortmund, this season can still be saved. And I am not talking about winning the UCL, as I find it impossible. I am talking about creating a good atmosphere around the team, scoring some goals, beating the opponents that we should beat and not allowing Arsenal to win the league (lol).

You could say the very same thing on facebook conversation of my sunday league team and no one would bat an eye. The only difference is Chelsea used to win CL and we are having tactical briefings in form of barbecue and beer 😂

Thing is about Arsenal is they have that belief. 2-0 goals and didn't just throw their hands up and think mehh they kept going and won. Whereas we go a goal down or the other team get a equaliser and that's it. Chasing them the rest. He definitely has put that confidence in the team whereas I don't know what our half talk usually does cause half the time come out worse.

Don't really think Todd was impressed. Saw us revert to a formation he wanted rid of and all we got out of it was a scrappy 1-0 from a corner. If we lose against Dortmund I hope he we see someone appointed the following morning.

Yup go a goal down and we will have loads of possession outside their box, but pose no threat until the last minute when a desperate ball is launched into the penalty area. How times have changed

And you'd always trust the subs..someone would come on and change the game. Except now..the good ole days!

meanwhile, Brighton, Potter's old team is on fire, playing glorious football at times

they destroyed West Ham 4 nil yesterday

Rice was shit, the 2 man MF of Caicedo and Pascal Groß (yes, Pascal Groß, lol) crushed the Hammers in MF

BHA's entire starting XI is valued at around £165m, lol, including an 18yo CF worth £880K , and a 32yo backup keeper worth £530K

and Joël Veltman replaced Tariq Lamptey in the 16th minute because of an injury.

What do you mean he wanted rid of?

Do you seriously think he's exerting influence over who's playing, the formation of the team, etc?!

There was some rumors that the ownership somehow wanted to influence the squad selections and formation and it didn't go down well with Tuchel. May be some truth to it, may be not…

IMO Todd and co set the strategy and identity they want the club to have, which includes at a high level that we should be an attacking side and indeed that we should play certain formation(s) which is strongly rumoured to be 4-3-3. I think Todd would expect to set this at a high level to coordinate that from youth upwards everyone is playing to the same hymn sheet and that all the clubs in the network he is trying to create are in sync with one another. They are hiring managers, recruitment staff etc to align with that vision, but are not on a day-to-day basis telling anyone that they need to do this or that. All just imo of course.

Potter's story reminds me of a similar Greek situation many years ago.
It's the year 1968.
The manager of AEK Athens is the legendary Jene Chaknady.
This German-Hungarian manager is an absolute myth and he is the best ever manager to manage a Greek team.
AEK win the league for 1967-78 handsomly.
Yet Chaknady is sacked,
They sacked him because he asked for a pay rise.
In comes Jugoslav Branco Stankovic, who also was a big name in Jugoslavia.
But the fans are cursing him - they want their hero back.
This coupled with some strange player contract terminations makes everyone very angry.

But Branco Stankovic knew his job.
Rebuilds the team, manages to reach the stage of eight in the champions cup (incredible for Greece those years).
So he too becomes one of the club legends.

In the Potter tragedy, Thomas Tuchel is in the role of Jene Chaknady.
But Potter ?
He 's been in the club for several months -since the 9th of September 2022- and Chelsea look like an amateur side.
He managed to win the champions league group against inferior opposition (Zagreb-Salzburg and what remains of
AC Milan). Also some spurious wins such as against Crystal Palace and Leeds.

His opponents were wrong at first because Potter had nothing to do with Tuchel's dismissal, but now ;
