Report: Chelsea determined to land €70m star, but he would prefer to join Arsenal

https://www.caughtoffside.com/2025/04/19/Chelsea-want-arsenal-target-viktor-gyokeres/

Chelsea are interested in signing the Sweden international Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world and he could prove to be an excellent acquisition for the Blues if they can get the deal done. According to A Bola (h/t SportWitness), they are determined to get the deal done, and the player will cost around €70 million.

However, the report claims that the player prefers to join Arsenal, Liverpool or Manchester City. With Liverpool and Manchester City uninterested in signing the player, Arsenal appear to be the favourites.

It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can beat them to his signature. They have the resources to pay €70 million for the striker, and he could transform them in the attack. The player has been outstanding for Sporting CP this season, and Chelsea needs someone like him if they want to win major trophies.

The 26-year-old has 47 goals and 11 assists this season. He could prove to be a major upgrade on Nicolas Jackson, and he could transform Chelsea in the attack.

On the other hand, Arsenal are keen on the player as well. They need an upgrade on Gabriel Jesus, who has not been able to score goals consistently. The fact that the player prefers to join them will be a huge boost for them, and it will be interesting to see if they can beat Chelsea to his signature.

Both clubs will be hoping to win major trophies next season, and Gyökeres could play a key role for them. Regular football in the Premier League could help me improve further and establish himself as a world-class player.
