I’m not saying Wirtz is going to flop as I think he’s a brilliant player but I do find it kind of strange that of all the positions on the pitch Liverpool decided to go all out for an attacking midfielder. I never once thought to myself watching them this season that a high quality #10 type is the thing they’re missing. I figured they’d return to the CM/DM area after failing on both Caicedo and Lavia. They’re still pretty short in that area after Gravenberch.

I guess this is a move with an eye on 2-3 years from now when Salah is gone and they have their new talisman to build the team around. so in that case it’s sensible. Though, if the reported 150m price is what they pay he pretty much HAS to become a superstar and one of the best players in the world.

Wirtz seems like a nice enough player - but definitely not the crazy money that is getting talked about.

Rodrygo, a decent striker and just one good CB is what we need. Simple business.

Get rid of Disasi, Nkunku, Badi, Fofana, Mudryk, Sancho and Chillwell.

Wirtz reminds me of Eden Hazard. He looks like a gamechanger that clubs automatically sign if they have the chance to.

Estevão looks like he could genuinely become world class if he settles in well here and is developed properly. Incredibly impressed once again by the compilation I watched of the match from last night. His comfort and ability on the ball is insane for his age as is the power he generates from his shots for such a tiny kid.

My hope is that he is used and integrated straight away and isn’t treated like the other teenagers under Maresca where they see a few minutes here and there. If he settles in to a new country quickly we could have someone insane on our hands.

I think throwing could be world class around after 2 seasons in Brazil is a bit overly excitable. Plus as you said if he settles in and develops correctly. My money would 100% be on Maresca playing that brain dead fucker Noni at every opportunity ahead of him next season.

Regarding Estevao, Kendry Paez seems to have fallen flat off the face of the earth after folk thought he would be along the same lines of the next big South American superstar when we paid whatever for him at 15/16. So nothings a given.

I do think Estevao looks very talented, for sure but lets see when he gets here. Brazilian football is a pretty dogshit league for players who are well advanced beyond average. If Estevao is in the squad or not… or at Strasbourg on loan for a year or two to acclimatise to European football, who knows. His stats are good in Brazil but was the same convo regarding Andrey Santos coming into the squad and being involved based off his games in Brazil, then he barely played and went on loan to France.

Does Maresca see a place for him? Has he mentioned him at all? Look at how many club signings he fucked off because he didn’t want them from the get go. And will see the same again with some guys come the summer.

Noni will likely be sold for a decent transfer fee to help 'balance the books' (especially if we don't get UCL revenue next season).

Hope so, need to get absolutely rid of him while his stock is still high.

Joao Pedro rumours picking up. Keen to talk to us if fee can be agreed. Brighton said to want fee in region of £50m. Like others have said, he is a good player but one we don't need. Almost like a jack of all trades, however not what we need. He reminds of Felix, as in he can play anywhere across the front line, however his best position is just of the striker. We already have Palmer and Estevao there and Enzo is regularly pushed further up anyway. Don't think he is a player who also takes us to the next level. He would be another good addition for the squad but not necessarily a marquee signing.

Difference between a top club and us. Clownlake is a disgrace.

I think guaranteed title credentials and UCL, whereas one club has been up and down, arguably a shit show.

Have to reset expectations as a club, we are not that club anymore that players would be desperate to sign in, simple.

Wirtz to Liverpool what a signing that is

Eh - I just don't think he will be the impact player he is in the PL.

Just like the Rodrygo rumors, the João Pedro ones were born and died within 24 hours basically.

I don't think the Pedro links are dead, you have to remember that we have the old Brighton boys running the show on transfers 😆
