Sure we are a counter-attacking side but you cannot leave Wilf one on one with a full-back, if you do he’s going past them no question. He leads the charts for successful take-ons and is up there every year so you need to watch him a bit more closely if you are not sure he is tricky enough. I have seen sides double, sometimes treble up on him and unfortunately our lot don’t have the quality to make use of the space that it leaves. Put him in a better attack and I think he (and they) will flourish with the extra space they get.

In terms of the major flaws in his game, you could argue his mentality is one; he is pretty easy to wind up. Secondly I am not sure his ball striking technique is up there with the best in the world, more than a few crosses are overhit and his shooting can be erratic at times too. He also takes too many touches occassionally, though I think that would improve in a better team with more options for him to pass to. I watched your game at the weekend and there’s no question in my mind he’d contribute a lot.

Personally i'd love to see Wilf play for a top side to see how much he'd improve. No, i don't think he'd be the next Ronaldo but i do feel that he'd surprise many.

A bit of Palace perspective on Zaha if anyone's interested.

If we can somehow get the price to £60m I'd take him, especially if (as is likely) we'll have to wait till the summer to make a play for Sancho.

Go into next season with both and we seriously improve our attack, I got high hopes to both CHO and Pulisic but neither are anywhere near ready to carry our attack for an extended period of time.

Cheeky bid for Eriksen, anyone?

It would be interesting if we offered them say £30m, to see what they would do. I don't think any foreign clubs will bid for him in January when they can take him for free in the summer.

I read somewhere that Spurs may be prepared to deal with a rival to get a return on him and Mourinho has previous selling Mata to United to help fund moves he wanted to make. If Eriksen wants out, they may be forced to accept such a bid to give them more flexibility to replace him.

Chelsea warned off trying to sign Lyon striker Moussa Dembele in January transfer window

Chelsea have been warned off a January bid for Moussa Dembele after Lyon took the unusual step of publicly reaffirming their desire to keep the striker.

It is now up to Dembele whether or not he pushes for a possible move to Chelsea this month or accepts his club’s stance.

Dembele is one of a number of forwards Chelsea have been considering to bolster head coach Frank Lampard’s attacking options.

Chelsea have tracked Dembele’s progress since he was at Celtic and French reports have linked the Blues with a cash-plus-Olivier Giroud bid for the 23 year-old.

snip

That statement does NOT mean Dembele definitely wont leave.  How is it so hard to grasp?  Of course he will leave if their price is met.

We offered £34m apparently, do you really think, for example, theyd turn down 50 and Giroud.  Of course not

Nathan Ake's buyback does not guarantee he will join either, he can still turn the move down.  It just means Bournemouth cant reject a bid of £40m from us, but they can from someone else.

I don't believe that Chalov rumour though.  Think thats a lazy link

According to The Telegraph, Bayer Leverkusen star Leon Bailey is one of the names on Lampard’s radar.

Another alternative is Samuel Chukwueze, with the Nigerian catching the eye for Villarreal in La Liga.

Fyodor Chalov is also in the club’s sights but the Russian star is more of a centre forward. He is also attracting interest from Crystal Palace.

Our top three targets are obviously Sancho, Werner and Chilwell. Non is available now but they are in the summer. We have great chance on all imo. So biggest question is what do we do now? Signing players on theirs positions in January is mistake. We have just 17 games in the PL left this season and by the time new players come in January just 14,15. So it's not worth it. Ok Telles now over Chilwell in the summer may be worth it but signing Zaha and Dembele now and missing on Sancho or Werner in the summer is huge mistake.

So in January I hope we bring back Ake, maybe sign attacking midfielder and I'm ok with selling Emerson or Alonso and buy Telles. That's it. Because of the reason I mentioned I'm not ready to accept new striker or right winger in the January even though we need new players there badly.

In my opinion. Grimaldo ≥ Telles.

Re Zaha and Sancho if it's financially possible we should go all out for both.

CHO, Pulisic, Zaha and Sancho is too much. Basically we would have potentially four 100m players in two positions.

Whatever we do I wish we'd hurry up and not wait until deadline day. We have a brutal stretch of fixtures in numerous competitions coming up soon. We need an injection of quality.

If I recall correctly I think we play Leicester, United and some other big team all in a row soon. Then CL against Bayern.

I have high hopes for the former pair long term but I don't think they're anywhere near ready in terms of delivering week in, week out and look a good couple of years away from having that type of consistency, possibly more in Cal's case. They will win us games (like Pulisic did at Burnley and Odoi did Vs Newcastle the week before) but they look a million miles away from doing it at the rate we need. The December month shown this, there was a lot of pressure on them (especially Pulisic) to produce a moment of magic to win us the points like Eden did and they just couldn't do it.

I don't blame them, it's just the stage of their career they're at. They need to develop at their own pace.

Jadon while at a similar age is miles ahead of both on present day level and Zaha has been bailing out his side (admittedly at a lower level) for years, they're at a level right now that will turn a poor performance from a 0-1 to 2-1 a lot more regularly than what we will get from Puli and Cal. It won't be too big a deal for the pair long term because Zaha will only give us 4 years max and at that point they will still be only 23 with a good 8 years of peak/around level to come if all goes well.

It will also give us scope to revert to 4-2-3-1 when need be or even a false 9.
