If we refuse to pay high wages outright we are doomed. Not giving money away for the sake of it ala United I understand, but when a player shines we need to pay in order to be in the conversation for the next big thing. At the end of the day football employs people and they will always strive to be better paid.

So far Caicedo has shown potential not quality. One good season does not make a word class player. If the contract is incentives based, fair enough but still. I was always against this signing on these terms. Even if he becomes a solid player like Ramires or Mikel he would still be a flop for  the money paid.
You can only get of this viscous wages circle when you sell the overpaid freeloaders (which we are doing) and refuse to hand out those contracts again, which we still struggle with.

He'll just join the list then alongside Cucurella, Mudryk, Lakaka, Havertz, Kepa as big money transfers that went wrong...wouldn't be surprised if we're adding Fofana to that list in the future as he'll have his fair share of injury issues.

I'm personally not a fan of calling a player a flop unless they've proven that they can't make an impact.  Caicedo was always going to cost in the 90 million range at the bare minimum and when Brighton realised that Arsenal were stupid enough to pay >100 million for Mr. Rice, they were on a mission to milk out as much money as possible for their midfielder.

Chelsea will listen to offers of around £50 million should they arrive for Conor Gallagher, but he is content to fight for minutes at Chelsea.

Tottenham's interest is genuine.

50 million?   We need to add a Spurs tax and make it >60 million for them.   Why should we strengthen a local rival with our academy player?

50 Millionen? Wir müssen eine Spurs-Steuer hinzufügen und sie auf über 60 Millionen belaufen. Warum sollten wir mit unserem Akademiespieler einen Lokalrivalen stärken?

Palmer will be new Nkunku will be back after his injury Chuk will also be back plus Gallagher only has a contract until 2025
The transfer fee will be a pure profit because HG
And Ugo Lavia Caicedo Enzo all want to play and were brought in for big money.

I think most ppl on here would say he weakens them, reading what people say about Conor on here.

Conor isn’t good enough technically for a team wanting to win the premier league and champions league. He shouldn’t be anything more than someone who plays the weaker teams in the cups and occasionally comes on to wind down the clock. You don’t reject 50m for a player like that.

The team is starting to look fresh, youthful and energized. With a smattering of experience it's a far cry from last season.

It's over to Poch now to mould the team and get it like clockwork. Not expecting miracles but I'm expecting to see better football and also a btter modd in the camp, which already looks to be better.

Onwards and upwards
