First off, we don't know if this is going to happen, Second and more importantly, whoever stays from Lukaku/Ba will likely be our third striker and almost never play. Lukaku would have stayed and got playing time but Eto's became available on a free and Mourino wanted him. Now, he won't get much playing time. Being able to play as a #1 striker for a pretty good team is going to be great experience (if this does happen).

even before signing etoo, we had made it clear that we wanted rooney (cavani or any other striker). we were always going to have the same problem of rooney (etoo), being no.1, yet lukaku was promised game time and all. and suddenly we want to loan him!!! what has changed in a day?

Yes certainly do given that we are not entirely sure the 2 who are staying will acutally produce goals for us consistently.

Eto'o is a blank canvas, complete and utter stab in the dark like most transfers. But we must not allow ourselves to think "Ah well Schurrle can fill a void" We need the right players for the right positions.

Torres worries me still. Torres and Eto'o would just be worryingly thread bare, if the board haven't learnt they want shafting with a red hot scaffolding pole.

Let's not go down this route again of "He can play there blah blah blah" We need players who are fit for a position we aren't Bristol Rovers, we need the maximum we can provide and putting people like Hazard or Schurrle into these positions weakens us elsewhere.
