Vesper 30,190
https://siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com/p/sources-Chelsea-ask-for-conditions Chelsea are set for another busy summer transfer window when the season comes to an end with just five league games left now. We know that there are a number of positions that the club are looking to bring in, and they will for sure be very busy with outgoings too. Perhaps a surprise position that the club might look to sign in is another attacking midfielder. This is likely due to the fact that both Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku are likely to be sold or loaned out this summer, as will Carney Chukwuemeka. So that will leave Cole Palmer as the only attacking midfield option in the squad. snip OneMoSalah

The clear frontrunners for him are Real Madrid (especially if Xabi Alonso goes there), Barca, and Bayern. I disagree on Huijsen. I think he is already good to go. Do you say the same thing about Murillo that you say about Huijsen? Who do you think we should go for at CB? Murillo is a left footed, left sided CB too, right? I know Huijsen is as well but he’s super two footed. With Colwill here it feels weird that we’re interested in left footed, left sided CB’s. Colwill has been poor this season but I highly doubt we’re thinking of moving on.

Yes, my ideal pairing would be Murillo at left CB and the ambipedal Huijsen at right CB. I see no reason to sell Colwill (I rate Murillo over Levi, just to be clear, at least atm), unless we truly need the cash. He will get plenty of minutes as the number 3 CB. Mhsc 1,097
I am hugely in favour of signing Huijsen but also agree with those who say he is not what we need - to that I would just say its true he is not ALL we need but he is a huge upgrade on what we have so we need to go for him if he is interested asap - he would immediately become our best CB, by a mile. After that we still need to look for another CB - and ideally that person is also club captain material, at minimum they need to be an aggressive ball winner that is insane in duels with enough basic technical skill to handle modern build up play. Colwill as our 4th best CB behind Fofana would be a much more normal and realistic progression for an academy player with obvious limitations like him. He should be out on loan still really. Mhsc 1,097
As long as Sancho is taking a huge pay cut then signing him does make sense tbh, we can loan him out for a decent fee every year to a league he can perform at a higher level in, and sell him on for FFP profit (maybe even real profit). He is not a bad squad player either to have if we want, not great but he's a pretty normal looking backup player for a top team. Could send him to Strasbourg for a year to pad his numbers and sell him on for more than we'll pay Utd surely. But that is a big IF about him willingly writing off a huge amount of his salary that we don't have much info on. Fulham Broadway 17,319
The biggest obstacle isnt particular players, they are a symptom of lack of ambition - its the current custodians of our club. They have no real desire to be great, to win stuff. They are happy for the club to wallow in mediocrity, and just to make their personal bank balances bigger. Pretty sure there is a restriction on the number of foreign loans you can have during a season, sending Sancho somewhere else just to statpad doesn't really make sense. He's not worth the 25 million fee that United negotiated, they're probably delighted to get those wages off the books. mkh

Neto is a weird one as the skill is there and he can run for days but I really wish he had that clinical finish in him. Feel like he could easily be a 10 goal a season player with a better finish in him, saw that during his days at Wolves as well, can see why Arsenal wanted him as another wing option. They have no real desire to be great, to win stuff. They are happy for the club to wallow in mediocrity, and just to make their personal bank balances bigger. This is the window that will finally cement what they’re actually about. They’ve spent the past 3 years stockpiling teenagers and young players to “set us up for the next 10 years” or whatever. Fine, we’ve now got loads of ultra promising kids. Have they now learned having watched this season that we desperately need some ready made, experienced players injected into the side? Or will they continue the same strategy and buy more 18-19 year olds? Continuing on this same way after they’ve seen us collapse in the second half of the season due to inexperience and naivety will ensure that the exact same thing happens next season. We will be fighting for 5th again. Arse, Liverpool, and City will be going out and signing 2-3 key players to complete their squads in a surgical way. If we don’t do the same we will be light years behind them once again next season. We’ve got Estevão, Santos, and that midfielder from Sporting coming in. That’s enough youth. Get us some finished products now. Fulham Broadway
