Well, they did spend 70m+ on an injury risk Fofana, and what a poor ROI that was. They're probably still hoping he comes good and thus see him & Colwill holding it down for seasons to come. Poor decision. I would trade 3 of our backup CBs for one quality CB. I'm not even asking for a CB of Carvalho quality Heck, our Brazilian CB Alex who played for us in 2010 was leagues above any of the CBs we have now. Yeah, I am hoping for Araujo from Benfica. He fits the age profile the club goes for and actually looks good with some experience.

Vesper 31,037
IF this is true I am going to lose my fucking mind “Pure profit player” – Chelsea star not in the club’s long-term plans https://www.caughtoffside.com/2025/02/07/andrey-santos-transfer-latest/ Chelsea reportedly view Andrey Santos as a pure profit player rather than someone who’s part of their long-term first-team plans. The talented Brazilian youngster has long looked like a big prospect for the future, but he’s yet to establish himself in the Chelsea first-team since joining. Santos is currently on loan at Strasbourg and has caught the eye with his performances in Ligue 1, but it seems that won’t be enough to change his situation at Stamford Bridge. According to TEAMtalk, Santos is viewed as a “pure profit player”, so Chelsea only plan to use his growing reputation to earn a significant profit from selling him. This could be a smart strategy from the Blues, who will need to be able to balance the books in this age of strict Financial Fair Play regulations. However, some Chelsea fans will undoubtedly also be concerned about losing a talent like Santos without giving him more of a chance. Chelsea could be taking a big risk with Andrey Santos transfer stance Chelsea know all too well that sometimes letting young players go too soon can come back to haunt you. Who can forget that the west London giants had both Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne on their books as youngsters, but allowed both to leave after hardly using them? You know the rest – Salah remains in the form of his life for Liverpool and is sure to go down as an all-time Premier League great, while De Bruyne has also been world class and picked up a whole load of major trophies at Manchester City down the years. Santos might well end up being someone in that category, even if it’s too early to know that at the moment, but that’s why you don’t rush into cashing in on these players. CFC have brought in a number of the world’s best young talents, but many of them have been underwhelming, so surely Santos is worth keeping around while others are offloaded? DDA 10,204
If the club sell Santos.. believe me, there is going to be chaos. The fanbase are already waking up to this boards nonsense. Protests will be demonstrated soon enough. This is not Dortmund. We aim to win. Vesper and bigbluewillie

Pizy 19,250
Unless Lavia returns this season and ends the PL campaign with a long run of games where he’s fit and performing well, I think Santos will rerun to the club and immediately replaces Romeo as that 3rd midfielder who starts together with Caicedo and Enzo. I’m not worried about the club cashing in on him at all.

He seems to be genuinely ambipedal. Appreciate he is v young, and I am no scout, but he looks like he ticks all the boxes: Clearlake approved (i.e. young as fuck), potentially insanely bright future, low wages. Probably cost a fortune but that's not traditionally stopped them for top young talent if wages are good. kexik and bigbluewillie 1

Vesper 31,037
finally 👍🏽 Chelsea add Lucas Chevalier to their transfer shortlist https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/news/Chelsea-add-highly-rated-champions-league-goalkeeper-to-transfer-shortlist-he-starred-against-real-madrid-this-season/ The likes of Zion Suzuki and Gregor Kobel have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, and the latest figure on that list is Lucas Chevalier. The Frenchman has started every Ligue 1 game this season for Lille, and seems to have made an impression on a number of top clubs. One of those is Chelsea, and Simon Phillips has reported the Blues have added him to their shortlist as a potential option for the summer. He said on the Simon Phillips Substack: “But the latest name we are hearing via SPTC sources is Lucas Chevalier of Lille. Chevalier is 23-years-old, a 6-capped French U21 international, stands at 6ft 2in tall, and has played well over 100 senior league games in his career so far.
