Chelsea Transfers

Feels like the Rice transfer fee really just hardened their stance. After he went for over £100m the Brighton hierarchy have just told themselves that that is the benchmark they’re sticking to. They’re now probably hoping we get desperate and pay it.

What they have to understand is that nobody is paying anywhere near Rice money for a player who had 1 single great season. Enzo was a World Cup winning star and Rice has been playing at a high level in the PL for multiple years. Caicedo has had 1 really solid year. He’s simply not close to a £100m player.

If this move doesn’t happen by midweek next week we should move on while there are still some quality options on the board. Or at least address other areas of the squad and revisit Caicedo later in the window.

Looks like PSG are deadly serious about selling Mbappe this summer rather than losing him for free next. Left out of their preseason tour.

Since it doesn’t appear that Real Madrid have the £150m+ it would take this summer and we’re clearly planning to take him for free next summer I wonder what happens. Would Mbappe be willing to come to a PL club? Or would PSG be willing to accept installment payments from Real Madrid?

In theory, only City and ourselves can realistically afford him, right? But City have Grealish in his position and we’ve just bought Mudryk who we still have high hopes for.

United ordinarily could absolutely afford him but have the ownership stuff happening. If the Qatari’s can quickly get brought in then I think they 100% get Mbappe as their new crown jewel/statement of intent. But then again, they have their golden boy Rashford on the left whose contract they just extended.

Arse have just spent £200m and are also set in attack. Liverpool are set in attack and would never spend £150m on a single player.

Newcastle are apparently still heavily under FFP scrutiny and are on a strict budget according to Eddie Howe himself 2 days ago.

So if not Madrid, what possible options are there for him?

Gardening leave = fired. Maybe he disagreed with the others too much. I wonder if he was the one signing all the Brazilian kids?

More like the other 2 are the ones signing all these Brazilians, he wanted Kone, Felix, Nagelsmann.

Can anyone tell me what his role this days was? Havent heard of him for months tbh.

He was in our top management position (as we have no Sporting Director, who is typically top of the heap, only under the owner and/or the board)

Vivell was the Technical Director, responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the non-commercial, non physical plant footballing aspects of the club.

He oversaw the club’s operations including player recruitment, coach development, performance analysis, sport science and strategic planning. He was responsible for developing and implementing our long-term plans.

Will be curious what leaks later about it. Clearlake have been brutal so far at clearing out problem people and keeping a lid on what happened - we still don’t know what happened with Tuchel aside from rumours about him being a womanising coke head.

I’ll back the clubs decision until some reputable leaks come out that suggest it was not his fault tbh.

So, the club conducted "long, insightful, careful, data-driven blahblahblah" process to recruit second choice director in the end, only to later recruit people overlapping his job, ending up with what we all see - another mess and trying to pull three different strategies of operation at once, a particular thing that he was hired to avoid?

At least with Roman we knew who was in charge - it was either him or Marina. Now it seems like we have "board of directors", board of owners and who knows who else, everyone pulling in his own direction and putting people supposed to mitigate it in position doesn't seem to mitigate it much after all.

Also, more importantly, WTF is it with Brighton and Liverpool publicly tapping up Colwill? Absolute scum clubs. That is already enough grounds to walk away from Caicedo deal and report them. Let them deal with Caicedo walking out.

It's beyond me why won't we pull out of dealing with Brighton for sole sake of negotations/publicity stunt, just like Inter did with Lukaku the first time. The window isn't closing tomorrow. Utterly soft people in those terms seem to lead the club's business.

He will probably cave and sign for PSG on a deal with a buy out clause and go to Real in a year. Clever handling of the situation by PSG tbh they can’t lose now, dropping him from the preseason tour and acting like they’ll happily not play him again totally forces his hand.

fuck Caicedo and Brighton's game playing arses

we should go HARD for Tchou!!!!

Real can use the dosh to help buy Mbappe this summer

sell Gallagher and also buy Valverde from them and that covers all their cost with room to spare

we have more players we can sell too, the Saudis will go hard for some of them

Yes I agree, 75m on Monday for Tchou and Caicedo immediately walks out of training and makes a public statement lmao. Would love to see it. Either way we win imo. I think Real would really think about it if someone else comes forward looking like a genuine buyer for Mbappe.
