The problem is paying it in installments, which I understand why we are trying to do that. Tbh I am actually excited to see what happens next.. Deal falls through. We get battered Thursday 3-0 We pay 80m for Alvarez because Ajax now know how much we have to spend.

TheHulk 2,647
@SLBenfica wants the 120 millions of the release clause in one payment instead of the 127 millions in many installments. @ChelseaFC don't want to pay that amount of money now. One step back on Enzo's deal. Next hours are crucial. ⏳
Vesper 31,105
Andrey Santos now “in London having medical” after agreement with Chelsea – But chief says “deal not closed” http://sportwitness.co.uk/chief-reveals-player-london-medical-ahead-Chelsea-move-deal-not-closed/ Even though it’s been a couple of weeks since the Brazilian media reported Chelsea’s deal with Vasco da Gama for the transfer of Andrey Santos, the Blues are still to confirm the youngster’s arrival at the Stamford Bridge. The agreement, however, is now announced by the Rio de Janeiro side. In a press conference, their director Paulo Bracks claimed the clubs have already shook hands for the move to happen, and now wait for minor details until that’s made official. “Andrey, he’s in London having the medical. Vasco accepted Chelsea’s proposal, but the deal is not closed,” said Paulo Bracks (via Globo Esporte). “Between a proposal made and accepted until finalization, there is no manual of days. It can take a week, 15 days, 30 days. It is important to point out because I understand the anxiety, but negotiations are complex.” Since the agreement was initially reported, there had been several claims regarding the price paid by Chelsea for the transfer. The latest of them said the initial amount is of €12.5m, with other potential bonuses. The Brazilian media had also claimed that Andrey Santos would still apply for a working visa to play in the Premier League, and in case that was not granted, he’d stay on loan at Vasco until the middle of the year. Therefore, that could be one of the issues holding the Chelsea transfer for now.

Rui Costa sees no benefits from selling Enzo on installments for now. Benfica intends to advance against Chelsea for having made the player's head with promises and dreams. It is not Chelsea that retreats, it is Benfica that was intransigent in the way it negotiated the player's pass. Rui Costa only accepted the clause outright. Chelsea was also not flexible and the deal should even fall through in the next few hours. -Jorge, from transfers What an absolute car crash of an owner says something after changes stance just to piss the selling team. I'm fucking done with football this season. Chelsea should have just concentrated on getting Enzo rather than talk about gazzumping Arsenal for Mykhaylo Mudryk a £85m player we dont really need. Benfica are no fools and can see that Chelsea do have the cash but dont want to pay up. This is what happens when you dont have a game plan for the club. Pizy 19,280
Just pay the fucking money, Todd. This is a player that can completely change our midfield fortunes. And we have essentially a free run at him this window. May never get this chance again. Especially if we finish bloody 10th or something! TheHulk 2,647
From what I understand, Benfica did not show intransigence, so much so that they accepted the offer that Chelsea had made a week ago. Chelsea didn't keep that offer and wanted to pay less than the first offer they made and, as I also read, rui costa was still hurt by Chelsea, for not keeping the first offer. Super lol if true. TheHulk 2,647
This deal will only go ahead if Mendes convinces Chelsea to bear the interest on the credit operation, a bit like he did with Félix's operation with Atlético... so that Chelsea pays in several installments but Benfica receives the 120M ready. So the deal progresses, but... I'm beginning to have doubts because Chelsea are trying their best to divert Mudryk from Arsenal and willing to reach 80M + extras. Imagine ending January with no Enzo and only because we bought a guy who whored himself for months for another team.

Vegetable 830
I for one wouldn't be so harsh on TB lowballing offer on unproven wonderkid in-the-making, when he isn't worth the clause and some people think he will hit ground running tomorrow and magically transform us into Real Madrid, because he did good in WC. People outside this board seem more cold-headed and see him as a prospect + he ain't no Touchniemi, there is no Real and City in the door, willing to pay 130 millions for him, so they may have a reason for it, since they seem bit smarter in transfers than we are…

Pizy 19,280
Genuinely thought today was the day we’d get a briefing from all the usual reliable sources that a deal had been agreed. Not the full, official club announcement but the likes of Ornstein, Fab, etc saying everything was done but the medical. Instead it looks to have imploded.
