Being linked with Piatek. Wow, I can remember this time last year people were going stir crazy that we weren't in for him when he moved to Milan. It just goes to show sometimes that a player can hit an almighty hot streak and it's very easy to get caught in the hype as opposed to realising the player's true level.

Higuain may not have worked out, but at least the club only took him temporarily and weren't saddled with him. This is exactly what I don't want happening this window. We don't want big money panic buys that push us back again.

Our view: Chelsea need to stay clear of Ollie Watkins

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Brentford striker Ollie Watkins. The Daily Star has reported that the Blues are keeping tabs on the striker’s situation at the Championship club and are considering a move. It could prove to be a good move, but Lampard should consider pursuing other targets.

The 24-year-old has scored 18 goals in 27 games for Brentford this season and is one of the league’s deadliest strikers. He is the top scorer in the Championship and his goals have propelled the Bees to an impressive fifth-place standing.

Lampard’s Chelsea side need attacking reinforcements. Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud are deemed surplus to requirements, despite the former scoring against Hull City on Saturday evening in a 2-1 win. Tammy Abraham is exceeding in leading the line at Stamford Bridge, but cannot be expected to do it all.

Chelsea’s current number nine is proof that the step up from the Championship is one that can be done with great success. Abraham scored 25 goals last season for Aston Villa and Watkins is well on his way to reaching that mark.

However, he is two years older and a move from Brentford in the middle of the season to a Champions League club would be an unheard-of step up. The Bees have reportedly set his price tag at £25m (Sky Sports), which would be an expensive risk.

Although Abraham did it with ease, the step-up to the Premier League is one that plenty of strikers struggle with. Watkins could easily prove to be another one of those. The Blues would be better off pursuing other targets that have proven pedigree at the top level.

Whats the difference in the Cavani case. We and Atletico would pay the same shit but you only hear in media about us breaking our wage structure. Atletico also has Morata, Joao Felix and others getting paid a lot yet never seem to have a problem paying this money for Cavani but when it comes to revenue they are way below us, so wheres the logic.

I would look into the ownership and Spanish Govt hasn't been bothered about injecting money into teams before... if they feel it benefits Spain.

Some level FFP playing field right there...

Yeah I would take him in a heartbeat.

He would destroy this league and looks good in CL as well 👍

Chelsea have reportedly bid 27m euros (£22.8m) for Tottenham target Krzystof Piatek.

Italian journalist Louis Girardi claims the Blues have made a move for the AC Milan outcast – who is looking to get game time ahead of the Euro 2020 Championships this summer.

Spurs have been linked with a move for the Polish striker, as they eye cover for the injured Harry Kane.

And they have been told by Milan to better the fee offered by the Blues who are looking a forward to provide competition with Tammy Abraham.

Milan want £25m or more minimum from all I have seen

£22.8m is perhaps a fair price, but he seems a dice role atm

Jovic on a loan I would prefer

and I still see no movement on the plowhorse Giroud

I smell a good old Italian arsefucking all-round to close out the window, with nary a box of thank you chocolates in sight

nothing is new under the sun

those clubs all look at Marina and see SUCKER (notice that Inter have ZERO obligation to buy Moses)

Gosens is unreal. But a difficult character with discipline issues some say. Löw the harmony seeking amateur will probably never consider him despite being the best German left back by far.
but yeah, the board probably does not even know him. Plus he would not even be that expensive. Contract ending in 2020 and not that many suitors yet.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7860517/Chelsea-watch-Atalanta-star-Robin-Gosens-5-0-demolition-Parma.html

There were these links from many news outlets around Jan 7 that we sent scouts to watch him. 20 mil for Gosens and I am down.

 Something to think about

all of the following targets will miss 4 or 5 weeks or so if they play in the African Cup of Nations in January and February 2021, as they moved it back into winter again

bold are the ones I rate the most in terms of our needs

Wilfried Zaha (I seriously would not buy him if he is not around 50m quid max, MAX in the summer (he turns 28yo 3 months into next season) and if he refuses to agree to not play in the AFCON)
Thomas Partey
Hakim Ziyech (I am still not 100% sold on him, and this is a big deal, the missed month plus)
André Onana (bad news IF he was our number 1 keeper, that's a lot of games to miss)

Achraf Hakimi
Wilfred Ndidi
Samu Chukwueze
Victor Osimhen ( I think he might end up better than Dembele tbh)

Youcef Atal (need to see how he recovers from a horrific knee injury)
Amadou Diawara
Krépin Diatta
Hamed Junior Traorè   AMF
Noussair Mazraoui
Youssef En-Nesyri
Ibrahim Sangaré
Jeremie Boga (I cannot believe we have not used his £12.4m buyback and dumped the now pure dogshit Pedro!, WTF)
Habib Diallo
Mohammed Salisu
Saïd Benrahma
Moussa Wagué
Josh Maja  (3rd striker, so not so big a deal, HG too)
