if we can pull it off, I would SO rather have Bale than Zaha for the short term (and short term is all we will get with Zaha, as he would turn 30yo after 2 full seasons here, and like fuck if I want to watch yet ANOTHER round of ageing wingers after Pedro and Willian (remember, Willian was 30yo this preseason, he turned 31 2 days before we got smashed by Manure) trot around SB

Bale would be a good stopgap move if we miss out (as is likely) on Sancho

he might not want to come here though

he is spuds

By no means do I think it's an easy deal to pull off, but Madrid and Zidane clearly don't want him and he wants to leave.

I just feel that if he was somewhere where he was (1) appreciated again, and (2) the 'main man' he could flourish.

For the team too, it would just be a huge lift to have someone like that join the club. Now that Hazard has left, we no longer really have that player that other teams have to consider creating a defensive plan to contain them. He would be that sort of player, taking some pressure off the younger players we've got in those positions.

I don't see the Spurs connection being an issue, that was years ago. It would be similar to Fabregas I feel, if the offer was on the table and Bale felt it was the right move he'd take it irrespective of his Spurs history.

I read somewhere on twitter that since Ben White is on loan we might not even be able to get him if we want to. The loan has to be terminated first right and Leeds can just say no. I really like him. He is tall, fast and strong. At least ticks all the boxes physically and seems to have an eye for a pass as well.

I am sure the loan has a termination at will clause for Brighton to pull the trigger on

Man United target Haaland 'knows what he wants to do'

The prolific teenage forward has made a decision on his future, which many think lies alongside his compatriot at Old Trafford.

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has confirmed that Red Bull Salzburg star Erling Haaland has made up his mind about his next destination as his time in Austria seems to be nearing a conclusion.

The two Norwegians know each other from their time at Molde and reports say that Solskjaer flew to Austria to have a discussion with the 19-year-old striker on Friday.

Some outlets reported that Haaland told his compatriot that he favoured a move to Old Trafford over other possible destinations, including Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

Speaking after a 1-1 draw with Everton, Solskjaer seemed to confirm that the prolific striker had made a decision on his future, but did not go as far as to say he will be plying his trade at United next season.

“I don’t comment on those speculations,” Solskjaer said of the transfer talk. “[Haaland] knows what he wants to do, and he knows what he’s going to do, so I don’t have to give any advice to any other team’s players.”

Haaland has scored 28 goals in 22 games in all competitions this season, including eight in six Champions League games. He scored in his first five matches in the tournament, before being held scoreless by Liverpool last week.

this?

Red Bull Salzburg kämpft um Haaland - aber RB Leipzig besitzt beste Chancen auf den Torjäger

because it only suggests that Leipzig should get him, not that it is a done deal

Some of the rumours of players we're being linked with - Ben White, Chukwueze, etc lends weight to the club being prepared to possibly take a backwards step or two for a couple of seasons to rebuild the club patiently and go again.

There just seems to be such a calmness around the club at present. Usually a poor run like this there would be rumours everywhere of how much pressure the manager is under but there hasn't been a sniff. If anything all I've read is how pleasantly surprised the club is with how this season has been going and how pleased the hierarchy are with Lampard's use of the academy.

I mentioned in a previous post that Chelsea's young players should theoretically be kicking on and hopefully developing into top players in a couple of years time, at which point a number of Liverpool's main players will be hitting the '30' mark. Does the club make an aggressive push now to try and challenge them or bide our time and quietly develop this team underneath them for a couple of years? Very much like how Liverpool have done things under Klopp prior to last year.

The proposed £150m transfer budget won't stretch too far nowadays when you're talking the very top level of players. Maybe 2 players. In my opinion we need at least 2 year's of transfer windows to catch up to where Liverpool are at present. That gap won't be bridged in one summer window.

It will be interesting to see what sort of transfer strategy we operate in January and next summer - do we buy a couple of real world class talents in their prime to add to what we have here already, or do we look to add more top young talent to what we already have and build a young team and aim to develop all together.

I haven't watched Ben White before and so, I can't say anything about him but the last few times we signed a complete unknown didn't exactly work out for us, did it? Miazga, Djilobodji to name a few...

But on the flip side, the young guys here have made the step up quite easily, and there's Dan James at United.

According to an exclusive from 90min.com, Chelsea are looking to bring in another striker in January and have target Bordeaux’s English-born Nigerian striker Josh Maja.

Maja broke through at Sunderland before making the surprising move to France last season. He’s been impressive but tends to be used as a sub rather than a starter, which could explain why he’s only scored seven goals in 22 games.

The report indicates that Chelsea have been impressed with Maja when they’ve watched him this season, to the point they are considering making a move for him in January to act as the new back up to Abraham.

There’s no mention of how much he might cost at this point, but it would surely throw the futures of Giroud and Batshuayi into doubt. It’s not clear if someone from the current squad would need to leave first, but it’s a name for Chelsea fans to watch out for in Janaury.
