DH1988 1,348
His podcast the Obi One had JT on it and it's absolute class, I love hearing the stories of that era and some new things on there as well, on my phone so I can't link but I encourage a listen if you're on a walk/drive etc. Edited November 2, 2023 by DH1988 nyikolajevics, OneMoSalah, Fulham Broadway and 1 other 1

DH1988 1,348
Odd one as he was a good stalwart for us being at the club for so long, always thought he fell short of his talent, though people do forget you need a squad to win things not just a starting 11, that applies to today as well, you do need your Obi's. Talent wise if you watched the youth tournaments where he played as an AM, he was awesome and ultimately I do blame Jose for moving him backward on the field, who knows how he would have turned out. Fulham Broadway 17,311
Doc on Sky now about him Fergie got him at Old Trafford, one to one, said you have to come to Utd. Obi said I cant, Chelsea have been looking after my family, Ive been on loan in Norway etc. He said Fergie was getting angrier and redder, saying 'do you want more money ? We will give you more money !! Vesper

Yes, your parents may have been born in an African country which is where their patriotism stems from but if I was born in England or France or wherever else that is my country of origin. My roots may be African but my nationality is what I would want to represent. For example, I was born and raised in Canada, however my parents were born in England and Barbados. This argument says instead of playing in the place I was born I should play for one of the countries of my parents. Now I do have 2 Canadian U23 to my name and never played for the senior men's side but that doesn't negate the fact that I was still very proud to represent the country I was born in. nyikolajevics

This has always been my argument its ridiculous to expect someone to be obligated to support their parent's country and not the one in which they were born and raised
Sir Mikel OBE 4,920
Other FAs need to develop their own talent and stop running after kids born in other countries too. Jamaica is full of talent they could cultivate, why are they running after a 30+ year old Antonio? He got them some nice wins, but never going to be enough to do much with that. You cant get to a world cup with that kind of mess, even in a weak confederation like ours. Which is nuts because if you visit Jamaica, every other block, is full of kids kicking a ball around. The potential is there. Basketball is doing that bullshit now too. Embiid doesnt even speak English and he's representing team USA? In a stacked sport where cameroon or France could have been competitive if he played with them? Weak sauce bluesman2610
