Stoke posed precisely no ambition and no attacking desire. They played to score 0 and were so negative they coulda finished with -1, Mikel had an easy game today. Lets see how he does against City, Spurs and Arsenal if he plays. What even happened to Romeu?

Mikel has done really well under RDM.He's shown that he is a force to be reckoned with and that he shouldn't be considered as a 3rd choice for the cdm role. I honestly feel that Essien is much better at that role.Essien can offer much more than Mikel,he's fast and can take some lethal long shots.Romeu is also a class cdm.He makes those quick passes up ahead and is solid at the back,he's like a 5th defender for us.

Reports have suggested that Juventus are interested in Essien. Now I feel if they offer more than 10m then we should sell him.Essien is too injury prone and its time we sell our players at the right time. The man is almost 30 years old and it can be fair to say that he wont be here for long.Mikel's performances can be erratic but then we also have a consistent Romeu who may choose us over Barcelona when the time comes.David Luiz can also play as cdm,a role which he favors and is quite good at times. So there are many options.

I am not really a huge Mikel fan but when I see a player work hard and play well, its my duty as a Chelsea fan to appreciate such performances and praise him.

People forget that his still only 24, most central defensive midfielders peak around 26, 27. Makelele was 29 when he first starting at Chelsea and he had a brilliant 5 year career with us.

Mikel cops a little because of his goal scoring record but his not in the team for scoring goals.

Wow, he's been around forever as well

Whenever puts a half-decent performance some overpraise him as if he played like Pirlo / Alonso !!

Mikel isn't good enough for a team that is supposed to challenge for EPl and UCL , he should be shown the door in the summer ... and his age shouldn't be a factor because he has showed no signs of development for 5 years . we should sell him now while he is worth something.

And whenever he makes a mistake, he gets put down as if he's nothing more than a Lucas or Henderson.

Yeh, if we can get close to 15 million, sell him.

If not, play him higher up the pitch. Never liked him as a DM...he doesn't even need to play DM cause Essien is back, Romeu is available.

He's a useful midfielder to have in the team.

At times he can be really awful but recent performances have shown that he has improved a lot.I think the best option for the club and Mikel would be to sell him.Mikel is young and should get some more game time than he gets at Chelsea.A few clubs will definitely show some serious interest in him and hopefully a team like PSG or Anzi will offer more than he is really worth.

A deal around 15m would be fair and this will give Romeu and maybe even Luiz more chances to play as their preferred role.

I still think we need a better DM. Romeu seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. This whole Barca "will he go will he stay" thing is going to become a fiasco as well. Essien is okay for now but if we can get a decent offer (18m that Juve are apparently going to offer) then we should let him go.

It shouldn't be our priority atm since we need to focus on attacking midfielders and wingers but still, for the long term we need someone potentially world class if Romeu isn't committed/good enough
