Mikel and Ramires for the two pivots is a no brainer.

I hope you're joking? Them 2 in the pivot is a really horrible at some moments. 1st Half was awful. Don't expect fancy soccer and tidy passes going forward when Ramires and Mikel are playing. Midfield is just weak, compared to the other top clubs.

Dont kid yourself him and Rammy were dreadful against a very poor Fulham ravaged by injury . And Jose has now told us whay we will be playing like now and that is without this so called gap plugger /holder we will be pressing all over the pitch and playing posession football ,the Makelele role is now redundant.

As Jose said we needed this win ,BUT that performance was awful and there is much work to be done ,Jose has now explained to us in plain language what several managers before him were unable to communicate what the plan is ,there is no instant fix and we are a million miles away from what him and Roman want and we will have to be patient.

I thought he was dreadful first half every ball he attempted that was forward was mis directed and he only looked good late on when Fulham had thrown in the towel ,Rammy was awful as well . Lucky we had Petr Cech to save us in the first half and a sound defence led by JT going forward we were awful. But a win is a win and hopefully we can grow.

Mikel had not made any runs, no shot on goal, no successful forward pass until the 80th minute of the match. I honestly can't think of any key play from him (even defense) until the end of the match.

To be fair on Mikel, Ramires was just as poor. And not to say it was team thing, Oscar was good from the start till the end.

Once again, nothing would please me more, if Mikel were able to do what he did in the final minutes of the match on a regular basis. I'd be the first one here praising him for that.

The goal aside, because it was a knock down from a set-piece and had little to do with the overall performance, I thought he was excellent again today. Our most involved player with 99 touches of the ball, he absolutely bosses it and was winning everything in midfield. Again our best passer with the most passes at the highest accuracy (goes without saying, but shouldn't be taken for granted) he was the major reason why we had so much possession and were able to pile the pressure on Fulham until we score. Definitely one of our best players on the pitch, second only to the brilliant Oscar. Keep it up John.
