What is important for him is to get minutes so I want him on loan against next season. Whilst I love a youth product in the first team, it is also important that they play as much men's as possible between 18-22. He can play DM, CM and winger to quite high standard, so with Gilmour out till October he could be back up DM, 4th/5th choice CM and 4th choice winger, he could even potentially be an emergency fullback Fabian Delph style (especially if we ask him to come inside for tactical purposes). That type of versatility is vital for a squad game at the best of time, let alone with a schedule as packed as what next season's will be. Share Posted July 24, 2020 James, Tomori, Mount and Abraham had great season in Championship and all got chance this season in Chelsea. Not only as squad players but to be regular. Gallagher is having a tremendous season. So he deserves the same. But tbh circumstances are different. We had transfer ban last summer. If Swensea get promotion he should stay there and play PL regularly. Jorginho and Kante are not far away from leaving. Barkley even sooner. So there will be place for him soon. To keep him next season as 4th/5th choice would be selfish and not good for him. Conor has future in Chelsea. Frank and Makelele especially are in constant contact with him. This season he played: DM, CM, AM, LM, RM, LW, RW. In Charlton he showed how he can score great goals and now in Swensea he is showing how creative he can be. 7 assists in 19 games. Needs a two year loan to a PL side. This season was an exception. What you really need to do with the young boys is to try and get them to about 100-150 games by the age of 22/23. Gallagher looks like a good player but the worst thing for him is to end up only playing 10-15 games a season for the next two years. Loked vv tidy and played at a high standard in a deeper midfield role at Swansea. Just don't do an Ampadu and send him to a club with too many options for his position! Looking at the league, something like Graham Potter's Brighton or Southampton (with Pierre-Emile Hoj-something leaving) would be ideal but the club should ensure he gets a fair chance at a starting role.
