This signing might not seem the most relevant one to our squad but in fact it's absolutely crucial that we get another LWB/LB, and preferably someone better than Alonso. Imagine if Alonso had torn his ACL in October. We would have finished sixth in the league.

Signing Sandro is a massive statement, and exactly the kind of message the board needs to send to Conte. Let's all remember that this is the first time ever when Conte has been truly backed by his board. If he can win the league with Alonso and Moses as wingbacks, imagine what he could do with a truly world class squad...Exciting times ahead!

According to Juve fans,  Romeo Agresti and Corriere della Sera are reliable

If we got him, thats £60m spent already on one player,  can see those reports of 250m to spend spent being true

We've already brought in around £33m from player sales this summer with, another £37 million reportedly lined up for the transfers of Traore & Ake. Then there will be the tribunal set fee for Dom Solanke, probably in the region of £5m-£8m, potential departures of Diego & Nemanja, plus more members of the loan army want moves. All of this should help meet the amortisation schedule of some heavy spending.

well technically Oscar has paid for Sandro.  We have an absolute shit load to spend.   Suspect 200m myself will be our total outlay

I was thinking the same earlier. Selling Oscar in January too when we didn't spend in that window.

It's a huge amount of money we're raising on player sales, all of the above you mentioned plus Oscar would be pushing about £200m.

Based on all the new commercial deals, premier league money, winning the league, etc it wouldn't be ridiculous to assume that we could quite easily go and spend £150m if we wanted to in this window not taking into account player sales.

I do think we'll be major players in the market and pick up some players that Conte really wants this summer that will vastly improve our team.

For 200m we will get Sandro, Bakayoko, Lukaku and Cabayero, maybe VVD if we push it to 230 or so. Didn't Conte say we wanted 6 players? What about our LWB and LW?

I deliberately excluded the winter window and focused only on 'new' money, but if we're including January then we have to add Patrick Bamford's fee to the pile.

The club get panned for some of the buys in recent seasons but we have done very well making the most of selling players. Gone are the days of loaning out Crespo until his contract runs out.

I'm sure I saw something a few weeks back that our net transfer spend over the last three seasons is lower than the likes of Sunderland. i can remember on Sky Sports Gary Neville talking about how Chelsea transformed their team in 2 seasons with a net transfer spend of only a few million. It's incredible how we've stayed so competitive in the league with a fairly moderate transfer spend, winning 2 premier leagues in the last 3 seasons and in that timeframe replacing the spine of our team over the last decade in the likes of Cech, Ashley Cole, Terry, Lampard, Drogba.

The next step is becoming competitive again in Europe and hopefully this is the summer we loosen the purse strings a little more to do just that.

You answered part of the question there mate.

Unless you meant RWB, which I believe is a position we could improve.
