CHOULO19 24,332
Nope. Clearly not what I've said. If that was the case then I would've said we should sell him last May.I'm just using this example to explode the myth of 'his experience, his commitment, his leadership'. Not to put too fine a point on it, but in his biggest game for this club he lost his head and let his teammates, the club and the supporters down. The myth of his experience, commitment and leader ships? So he does not have those things? Really?! That's just absurd, if you truly think so.His experience....his great performances have helped build this club but you don't give players contracts based on what they did do. You give them contracts based on what you expect them to do.Of course you do. First, I'm saying to renew his contract. And second, I'm saying that we should keep him, because experience like his shows when it matters. An excellent performance? Was this another game you didn't watch because he was not excellent and might even have been lucky to have stayed on the pitch. If that's what you consider an excellent performance, then it explains a lot.Lucky to stay on the pitch? First, that was never more than a yellow card because he was not the last man. Second, he had to do that because Ramires lost the ball (from a poor pass from Cahill). He was correcting someone else's. See what experience did there? He took one for the team instead of letting Benteke past him. Had Cahill done that in the first goal, this game would not have been as difficult as it were. Yes, I think he had a very good game. Dominated everything in the air in our box and hardly put a foot in wrong. But tell me please, why didn't you like his performance?£8 million is what we will pay him in wages. The other £8 million is the transfer fee.Experience, passing on knowledge, right-click 'mentor Nathan Ake' yes yes yes.....Vertonghen went for about £10 million, Kompany for about £7 million and we're not even talking about squad players with these guys. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.And Bosingwa went for 22m. Those are obviously exceptions, but usually you won't find a defender of JT's quality for 8m.
The only place to be 11,313
Let's just agree to disagree Choulo. There is nothing to be gained from us conversing because we don't agree on anything.
Blue Armour 4,439
There are two things to be considered here:Like Choulo said, JT offers that experience and displays the mentality the team needs to have in crucial games. For this, he will always be an asset to the squad. The second, is that we'll also need to look beyond JT as he's not going to be around forever. We need to breed new champions, and the only way that can happen is if the current crop can win something signficant without the presence of the old guard. The Europa league final could serve as yet another test for that.
Joe Cool 388
He had a massive performance today before the injury despite the possible sending off. It's a shame that he keeps getting injured, because it seems to take something out of him every time but oh well, that's the nature of the sport
BlueLyon 9,359
He's out of contract next summer, he costs £160,000 p/w and he hasn't played much this season.Maybe Jose thinks he can use him again next season but £8 million (plus the same in saved wages) at least requires consideration doesn't it?FUck it, money will always be there but players like Terry are just one and only. He is our legend and should retire properly; here.Same goes for Lamps.
xPetrCechx 13,571
According to The Guardian Galatasaray are to test John Terry's resolve to remain at Chelsea after the Turkish champions indicated they would be prepared to match the defender's salary, and offer him regular first-team football, as they prepare a formal bid for his services. DDA 9,941
It really does upset me that JT has missed out on playing in both of our European Cup final victories. I know last year his outburst could have cost us our place in the final when reducing us to 10 men but he is Mr Chelsea and would die for our club. I was gutted then and watching him having to sit out on last night's Europa League victory made me feel deeply sorry for the guy. Whatever happens JT, you have been one of the biggest reasons for success here over the years. A true Chelsea great.Ahh I'm drunk and emotional. I love Chelsea! I love John fucking Terry! BlueLion. 21,491
I think he personally is just destined never to lift the cup in a European final. Obviously he can take great pride in being part of the squad - even if you're sat on the bench, if you're in the squad, you're a cup-winner. Peace. 4,352
I mean, seriously. He should stop to wear the kit when the team lifts the trophy, while he isn't in the squad for the final. Leif 6,006
Didn't Hilario, Blackman, Romeu and plenty players who weren't part of last night's action change into their kits too? This is only being made into a 'problem' because he is John Terry. If Scholes, Gerrard, Kompany or someone changed into their kit after not taking part you just know the opposition fans would be all "OMG HE LOVES THE CLUB, HE'D RATHER BE LIKE A FAN AND WEAR OUR CREST WHILE CELEBRATING THE WIN INSTEAD OF WEARING A FORMAL SUIT! ".This is nonsense. renanh, Green Lantern18, yuvala and 1 other
