DYC. 7,542
And why are you ruling out that possibility?I'd rather have Costa who led two sides to league titles, in the two most impressive leagues in football, than Falcao who led his team to Europa League glory. Falcao's departure was supposed to weaken Atletico, but Costa stepped up and his presence made them better. Falcao is now an even lesser player than he was before.Granted, Costa was terrible in the CL but he was great in 13/14. Falcao has barely played CL football so it's hard to make a case for him. It's different when you have technique and vision to fall back on if you're no longer in prime physical condition because of a major injury. Suarez for example would suffer less if it ever happened to him, because of his all-round game. But when you rely on physical attributes, you're level as a player really takes a hit. That said, who knows how he'll do as a back-up. But he's never taking Costa's spot. Jase 43,479
First of we already concede goals even if we play with 3 midfielders, having 2 strikers can assure us the first goal which is vital. It's true that City have problems because of the 4-4-2, why? it's because they do not adapt. They keep using the same formation over and over again. Even when they play against us or against any other top 4 and that's their mistake. I suggested the 4-4-2 only for when we face midtable clubs and that's the difference. How often do we have problem with scoring the first goal in matches? We play with 1 striker and yet, take 2014/15 for example, we opened the scoring in 28 of the 38 league matches.City practically play with 4-4-2 against every team in the league and they have come unstuck against the lesser sides as well, not just the big ones.As for our defensive duties it has been our downfall for so many games this season. We failed against PSG, Spurs, Newcastle etc because we lacked in offense and also because we relied too much on our defense. If you want you can look back at our game vs Newcastle for example we backed off too many times and that's why we conceded 2 goals. The reason why we usually play better in the 2nd half is because we play offensively. That's also why we usually concede the first goal and then we get motivated to win the game or we draw.I seem to remember that we conceded the 2 goals against Newcastle from counter attacks, which can happen regardless of the formation played at that point of time. You say we usually play better in the second half because we take a more attacking approach. Yeah, we do that at times and we do it with just one striker. Didn't have any problem with getting at least a win/draw when needed to, no?4-4-2 provides us with pure attacking force but also with balance against the lesser sides. Look at how Fergie has done with that formation or Arrigo Sacchi. Falcao is not worldclass atm and thats not what I meant but I said that when he's inform he truly is worldclass. We also have already won the PL so we don't have the pressure we had last season so this tactic could prove to be great imo.Managers like Fergie played that formation but he does it with 2 wingers and attacking full backs, which is different to what we do.When Falcao is in form? The question is, will we even see him regain his form?
Jase 43,479
Last season for Falcao was a one off. He didn't start well and throughout the season he looked like someone playing with no confidence at all. Pretty sure Mourinho can instill that confidence in him.Like The Mak pointed out above, we've heard that before...with Torres and look where that got us. How sure are you it's just a confidence thing? Maybe he's past his best and is slowly going downhill. Even when he was at Monaco, he wasn't exactly setting the world alight either.Worth a gamble if he is willing to come on loan on reduced wages.Let me get this straight. Earlier you were confidently saying Falcao is better than Remy and certain that he'll be a success for us. But now, you are saying he's worth a gamble if he comes on loan? In other words, you're not 100% sure he'll do well for us..
Special Juan 28,141
I tell you what, Remy is proving himself so much so that Costa needs to be right on his toes because Remy is shit hot for me.

He's a good back up and nothing more.As for Falcao, ofc I'm not sure he's certainly gonna do well but he's shown signs of his former self especially at the international level. For all its worth, Falcao is only just as risky as any deal we are gonna sign this summer unless we're signing someone like Messi or Ronaldo. More like people are just under-appreciating him despite having scored goals and put in the performances for us.It's probably because he isn't fancy enough that people feel the need to discard him for someone with a bigger name.As for Falcao, ofc I'm not sure he's certainly gonna do well but he's shown signs of his former self especially at the international level. For all its worth, Falcao is only just as risky as any deal we are gonna sign this summer unless we're signing someone like Messi or Ronaldo. There are players who do well for their national teams but not their clubs. Form at international level doesn't mean much if you can't replicate it at club level. Just ask Podolski, for instance.Falcao is more risky than any possible deal we might be doing because of his form and injury in recent seasons. LukakutoStamford 779
Much rather pay a bit more for Benteke than take Falcao. Falcao is too much of a gamble. Benteke is 5 years younger and PL proven. Falcao was shambolic in the Prem this year. Plus we don't know Benteke's upside since he's only played for Villa post Belgium days.

There's no proving he wouldn't replicate that poor form here. I'd be very happy if the Falcao deal is a loan. Costa, Remy. Falcao as our front three options is pretty mouth watering. Polo7 3,496
And Benteke is different from Ba how? Falcao will do better for us than United. United had one creative player on the wing, we have a shit tonne of creative players.

Pacquiao 1,834
How is Falcao an upgrade over Remy? Falcao is a goal poacher but outside of that, he offers very little in buildup plays and that is something you can't say about Remy. He scores goals and links up with others in creating goals. It's almost criminal how Remy is underrated by some here.if Falcao can regain some of his old form then he will be much more then a poacher.
