BleedsBlue 1,549
I can't see him playing for any other English club and there is no way that greedy Wenger is going to get Essien.Absolutely no way!!!
Jase 43,479
Someone from the board is seriously asking for trouble if they are seriously thinking of loaning another player to Arsenal. Why are we so charitable all of a sudden, trying to loan players to a direct rival that can help them achieve their aims?!!
Krypt 241
Just read the new about Ess , would really piss me off if we loan him to Arse. I know he isnt one of our best players anymore but it will ruin all the fond memories i have of him if he goes there!

I know he isnt one of our best players anymore but it will ruin all the fond memories i have of him if he goes there! It makes sense:1) Financially - they pay the wages (or at least a significant %)2) We get to evaluate if he is a player we should keep / let go3) We strengthen over teams against our rivals4) He cannot play against us - potentially weakening the side that are relying on himSo there's no real downsides as I can see? Then we'd get quite lot money for him, and we wouldn't pay his wages anymore. 3) WE are one of those rivals, so we'd strengthen against us. 4) If we don't let him go to Arsenal he couldn't play any of their games. It would be better, wouldn't it?

Blue Armour 4,442
What was the purpose in "loaning" him?...Its not as if we're too strong in the Central Mid positions..If they wanted to get rid of Essien, they should have sold him and looked for a new CM. Horrible move. The Skipper
OneMoSalah 8,886
IF he plays at Madrid (notice if in capitals) and plays good we should take him back in January and play him instead of golden oldie Lamps who is rather useless in the double pivot if you ask me. Horrible move.Im guessing that they hope he is able to regain form and if not at least advertise some of his ability on order to sell him on next summer. We have enough centre mids just not enough of the right quality or consistency in performance, hopefully the likes of Romeu, Mikel and Ramires will be able to develop and take up these roles. Mikel has shown signs that he is capable of doing so.

But from how he looked the last games he played we can't really play him. At least I get a reason to watch Real games now.
KonohasOrangeFlash 2,607
Sorry but loaning him makes little sense. Hopefully Romeu plays more now. Strike
sleazyB 58
Maybe Mourinho will get him to be a class player, and it will be like signing a great player when he comes back. (thats as about optimistic as i can get for this move)

Romeu has barely played a game since RDM took charge, and he's the only real candidate for the task. The rest, like Ramires and Raul, would be swept aside by the stronger teams we will face. (thats as about optimistic as i can get for this move)That's what we always hear when it comes to Essien. Face it, he's 30 and this was probably the last season for him to be of some use to us. Mourinho will use him well for his own needs, but he's not going to play regularly at Madrid. capriccioso
