I'd take that. Hughes has built something special at Blackburn over a period of time with very little funds - imagine what could be achieved with Abramovich's fortunes. It may take a while, but he is a motivated and inspirational person with strong ties to the club, he would be the ideal appointment in my view.

problem is hughes do not have a while..he only have one season and if he fail to do anything...the axe is on him

oh btw man city is interested in hughes...

Chelsea need continuity of managership. If they get Scolari, Mancini, it'll last max 3 years, probably less, with Abramovichs quest for instant gratification.

I would like Hughes or a 'hungry to win' younger manager be given the long term option.

The first season may be silverware free, worse than Grants season where he just sat doing fuck all, if the manger has to introduce new players. But, I'd sacrifice a season to see long term growth and success. No one thought much of Ferguson or Wengers first season, but the respective boards had the foresight to spot long term potential and the rewards of continuity of permanent stewardship

Top post FB (how are ya btw?) I couldn't agree more mate. Continuity is the key word in my opinion, I'd gladly sacrifice next season to let Sparky build his team for the future, Not sure Roman feels the same way lol. As I said in my OP Hughs will get the respect from the dressing room and I think like others How can you ever be ready for the likes of Chelsea without being given the oppurtunity(sp?) in the first place.

i wanted to have Laudrup, but he is out of the race, he just signed for Athens,

so i´ll go for mancini

don´t think rijkard will come because Hank ten Cate and him worked together in Barca once, and now Cate is gone...just supposed that...don´t really know it fure sure.

Reportedly Ten Cate fell out with Rykaard which is why he left Barca.

So the fact that Ten Cate has gone should not lead people to assume Rykaard will pass up the job.

Why should he? Is he and Ten Cate joined at the waist or something - Rykaard has another backroom team now - he can survive without Ten Cate.

I'm not buying into the mancini method. Inter were HUGELY fortunate because Juve had been relegated and Milan docked points, he is generally a lucky manager and, just in case, he made an ass of leicester.

He may bring Zola, or Vialli in, but he would be a poor mans Jose, given the fact that Mourinho as taken his job in Italy. Which leads to on major question? Are we willing to employ a manager who is a cast off because of Jose?

i read on an article mancini;s win draw lose record is as same as grant's except he do not need to face man you, arsenal and liverpool...

however he is beaten by ac and juventus.....the top clubs there

and his team did not have as much injuries

besides mancini was thrash by liverpool....while we overcome them......

if they want mancini might as well keep grant

Well the weekend has made absolutely nothing clearer. Roumers are that there will be an announcement made today! Other sources claiming that there will be nothing until after the Euros. Ten Cate claiming that there are 2 possible candidates both of whom will bring their own staff which means discussions have taken place which rules out Scolari and a few others....

Rijkaard has stayed favorite over the weekend. Really have no idea what is going to happen still though.

I don't know who or what to expect at the moment

However, as fans, i think we deserve to know whats going on at the moment, an official list of candidates or anything would suffice, getting information from the Chelsea website is like drawing blood from a stone at times

You won't hear anything from Chelsea until the man is announced. Which to be fair to them is the right way to do it for many reasons. Doesn't make it any less frustrating for us though. I really don't think we can afford to wait much longer though....

we should rather have a poll about when the manager will be announced, have a better chance at getting that one correct than who the manager will be

Much more democratic. The club have allegedly been refused permission to talk to Ancellotti.

To me this shambles just highlights what a fuck up Romans ego caused by removing Mourinho. Abramovich knows he fucked up which is why he bought Mourinho a £2 million Ferrari last weekend.

Yes it was a mistake to get rid of Jose, but all can be made right by getting this appointment right!

Rijkaard, Hughes and Scolari all odds moving down! Ancelotti and Mancini drifting away.

Of course there are plausable reasons for the delay and why we can hope for an annoucement today! First working day of the new month could mean that whoever it is we may have had to wait until their contract expired or the termination of their contract ook effect in Rijkaards case. Hughes has just aparently come back from a holiday which again is a possible reason. Also Man City have just announced Svens sacking which makes him free!!!!

Cleared nothing up really there!!! :)
