Popular Post! Styles 9,790 Posted September 25, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted September 25, 2014 Giles Smith:Hearing and feeling the warmth and respect pouring out of the stands last night for Petr Cech, on his first appearance of the season, it was hard not to feel that Stamford Bridge now officially lacks something: a banner in his honour.John Terry, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba: the main architects of the unprecedented era of peace and prosperity that we currently all enjoy at Chelsea have their banners. The one that’s missing is Petr Cech.He is, it seems to me, (and I say this as someone who grew up wearing a pair of green, Peter Bonetti-endorsed goalkeeping gloves) the best in his position that the club has ever had and, without question, the most successful. Quite apart from the dignity with which he has chosen to handle this transitional phase in his career. You could argue, given his specialist subject, that the most appropriate tribute to him would be a clean sheet. But I’m not sure a clean sheet really does the business, banner-wise, so let’s go for something with, at the very least, his name on. It’s due. He's right. iseah100, DYC., Gilvorak and 7 others
Amblève. 4,995
Giles Smith:He's right.A banner with Cech's silhouette and next to it the number of clean sheets he kept for Chelsea would be most fitting IMO.

Term-X 7,891
Let's enjoy the 'luxury' of having him while we can, it's the goalkeeper equivalent of Costa getting injured and having Falcao on the bench. Tomo and LAB
Styles 9,790
Giles Smith:He's right.I have to correct this post...THERE IS A CECH BANNER! To be fair to myself I only ever sit in the MHU when I do attend so wouldn't be able to see it and I've never seen it on TV either until today! It should be somewhere more visible like the Terry, Lampard and Drogba ones.Great performance by the way. The way he ran out at Wilshere was amazing. Blue Armour

MrBlueGuy 1,552
I think he should stay, for the good of himself and us. Lets say he will only plays 10 games this season overall but we win the league and/or CL, he will still get the medals and no one can doubt his role. We will have a fantastic backup that we can rely on for the next 10 years along with a 1st choice GK if they stay fit. Now where else is better for him anyway? PSG? does he really want to go there, sure he will earn good money and probably win at least 2-3 titles in the next few years but are the fans going to show him the love like we are doing?I mean Sky shown the banners with Cech on it today, he will always be loved here even when he has shit games like Drogba/Lampard and Terry. Also who to say Courtois won't pick up an injury here and then like today, maybe then Cech will get his chance and play for a sustained period. The_Flash 1,144
It was awful that TB got injured, horrible blow. I was worrie when he looked out cold. For Cech to overcome the disappointment of being dropped and having not played but he stepped up today and was brilliant. I love Cech
didierforever 7,349
221 not out.The clean sheet goes to cech? What's the criteria for the CS going to one or the other GK.
Tomo 21,751
It was kind off sureal seeing a world class keeper come on as sub, 2 years ago Turnbull would have come on in these circumstances. But like Term said, this is a luxury we won't get for ever so enjoy while you can. Blue Armour and xPetrCechx

Jase 43,479
Great Game. He didn't even have to make any real save. Only had to collect the balls for goal kicks. To say he had a great game is over the top.
