BlueLyon 9,359
What baffles me is the price rumoured. Cech, still one of best GKs in world, selling to our biggest city rival and for just 10m?Cech is 33, which is like 28 for any outfield player. Still has at least 3 top years left, 10m rumoured is not enough. If we are selling to them, we should squeeze these fuckers as much we can. RoyalBlues 4,050
We shouldn't ever sell any player to them again in the future. Cech the last one. F*** them.

F*** them.Petr wants to stay in London, it's his request. I think we should respect that, it'd be a dick move to sell him to Turkey just because we it would be better for us. Joining Arsenal must be hard for him too but he is a husband and a father and he wants his family to stay in London. Hope we could prevent something like this happening again to our players in the future, for the fans sake. We should add more clause like couldn't leave to another same city rival club, or something like that in any contract signing or extension. It would also be pretty shaky legally...

guddy6969 201
Petr is now top 3 goalkeeper in the world, better than Courtois and not overrated any more.. :0)
kellzfresh 7,229
I have been reading this thread and it seems that people are split on Peter leaving us. Some are pleased for him, and others are annoyed that he is leaving. Well lets be brutally honest and list a few facts, and then I'll give my feelings on this transfer.Fact......Petr was a super servant to Chelsea for many years now.Fact......He has won everything he could at Chelsea.Fact......He didn't make any waves when he was dropped for Courtois.Fact......He is a true gentleman and superb professional.ButFact.....He lost his place because we now have a better keeper.Fact.....He wont get game time with us next season either.Fact.....He's a good keeper, but he wont win Arsenal a Premiership title.(Because the rest of that team is crap)Fact.....He's getting on, his family is settled and he doesn't want to uproot them. And Arsenal being the second best team in London were the only team to bid.Fact....This was a family decision and not really a football one. He will be well paid, play top grade football and see out his remaining football career incomfort.Fact....He will never get another big transfer paydayFact....Although not good enough for a starting place at Chelsea, he will significantly improve Arsenal........but not enough to overtake us.So.......My verdict is that although I am a bit sad to see him go, I will wish him all the best in the twilight years of his career. But for Chelsea it is onwards and upwards, and if you're not good enough to play regulary and want first team football, well them perhaps it's right to sign for a lesser side than us, to secure that for yourself.Good luck Petr, we will miss you, But the time is right for the parting of the waves.#facts Starman60

LDN Blue 7,903
I'm seeing people are upset over the reported fee of £10.9m, but come on guys were you expecting £20m? Yeah you can argue that 33 is relatively young for a GK, but no-one's paying over the odds for a player that age. The fee is irrelevant anyway, it's instantly downgraded when the player wants to leave. The club doesn't hold the bargaining power.I don't think we're getting anything out of this deal, from Arsenal's side. It's a fallacy to think Wenger is about to do something as stupid as give away Oxlade, as I've read, considering how vital these players are becoming. After the whole Lampard affair, I can't be bothered to care about Cech going to Arsenal to be honest. I probably won't be 'cheering' him every time as some fans will, I support the club. commilin, Tomo, Unionjack and 1 other
Popular Post! supporter 3,088 Posted June 24, 2015 Popular Post! Share Posted June 24, 2015 To me this issue is frankly sad and disappointing. I can not understand that players like Frank Lampard and Peter Cech whom have lived so many good emotions in The Bridge and have been supported, esteem and admiration of us all, I can not understand how they are able to play for Manchester City or Arsenal when they have 36 and 33 years and are in the last years of their careers, a career where they have nothing to prove to anyone and they have won everything with us. For me this is really sad and disappointing.I will never insult Frank Lampard or Peter Cech, obviously, but in days like these is when I feel more admiration and appreciation for John Terry ©. A captain, a leader, a Leyend. ONE OF USI understand what Peter Cech says about his desire to continue playing in London for his family. This is a really understandable reason. But he could perfectly go play with West Ham or Tottenham, teams which are not our direct rivals to win Premier League, and he would continue to live in London. This decision would be more reasonable. Peter Cech also makes this move to try to be the main goalkeeper for his country at Euro 2016 and the next World Cup. But with Fulham or Tottemhan he would still be in the starting eleven of Czech Republic without any doubt. His move to Arsenal is totally incomprehensible.I think we should counteract this move and convince Oxlade-Chambelain to force Arsenal to sell us Oxlale-Chamberlain irretrievably. I think it's a question of honor.Regards to ALL. Kieran., Unionjack, Viper22 and 3 others
Tomo 21,751
LDN is spot on, anyone who thinks we could have milked Arsenal are kidding themselves in fact if anything we have got the better if the deal.Cech is 33, he hasn't got that many years left, before someone hits me with VDS he was a one off, the keepers stay great until their late 30s is a massive urban myth, Seaman was letting goals in from corners late on his career, the great Dane was floating around in mid table. Schwarzer and Freidel were not a 3rd as good as their prime at us or Spurs.Given Cechs injury record and he was one of a triplet (which apparently weakens bone structure or something along those lines) the chances of him being in his prime for that much longer isn't very likely let alone doing a VDS, in fact I heard that the fears that Cech had to retire early was the reason we got Tibo in the first place, in fact the Belgium himself said it.So all thing's considered we were never going to get huge money for Cech.
