When Carroll signed for the hammers a bit ago it was a six-year deal, have the rules changed slightly?

No idea, mate. Never actually checked the rule but have always seen many people say that the longest player contract allowed in the EPL is 5.5 years.

I think we have already negotiated with Messi. The theme instagram and when Messi began to follow us I think he was very angry about his confrontation with Luis Enrique and he followed Chelsea to reflect their anger and say that he wants to change teams. As I said in Spain clauses will never pay to break the contract by the problems of taxation. Messi wants to provoke the turbulent atmosphere there now in Barcelona and make the Barcelona fans against him, which would cause that Barcelona had to negotiate with Chelsea and so the final price of the signing will be lower.

I also do not think we're going to pay 200 million Messi. It's an incredible amount of money. But I think the final price of his move will be much lower.

In 2009 Real Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo signed by £ 74.20 million when he was one of the best players in the world.

In 2013 Real Madrid signed Gareth Bale when he was one of the top 5 players in the world and probably the best in the Premier League for £ 70.30 million.
Neymar also cost £ 70.30 million or so, Luis Suarez £ 64.05 million Zidane, though long ago but still remains the most expensive signings in history, cost £ 58.58 million.

I think Leo Messi impossible costing more money than they have cost together Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez considering that his signings when they were in the best moment of their careers and watching all that Messi now is not in the best moment of his career, he seems rather hopeless.
I think this is a strategy of Messi to lower your price considerably and increase his own salary. No player will exceed the figure of £ 117.17 million in a signing. Pobablemente that is the final figure of a hypothetical transfer of Messi. He has only begun this to force Barcelona to negotiate with its strategy much lower price as happened in Barcelona with Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Eto'o, Deco, Cesc Maradona ... Also we sold them for a price well below the normal market price. The environment of Barcelona is always very negative and self-destructive, and they always end badly with their great players. In fact, Guardiola, who was a myth for the supporters of Barcelona, I also suffered the attack of the supporters of Barcelona and its surroundings, he also left Barcelona repudiated by all when he was a player.

Summer market begins July 1, so there are still almost six months to negotiate with Barcelona and Messi lower price. Now it has begun an operation of wear and reduce the final price of the operation. I think £ 117,17 may be the final price.

A - We won't get Messi.

B - I really hope we don't get Messi.

Why? I'm confused?? If you said I really hope we don't get Cesc or get Costa or Reus, Id understand. But LIONEL MESSI at 27 years of age. Possibly the GREATEST OF ALL TIME (100% is GOAT imo) and you don't want us to get him?

Im soo terribly confused

For me, there comes a point where its a step too far. We have built one of the youngest most exciting teams we have had in a while and we are performing well. I would rather we develop the great team we have rather than just pay at least 150 mil or whatever people are saying on the biggest contract of all time for arguably the best player in the world.

For me i think we have spent more than enough on big players and our team can rival the Real Madrids etc. Hazard etc could himself be the best player in the world one day. But Messi, the millions of bandwagoners that would follow (Great financially) is a step too far imo. Also the Millions of people who would (perhaps rightly) just say well you bought the league which is why you won it would just get annoying.

I would imagine i am fairly alone in this, which is fair enough as its messi but each to their own.

I can see where he's coming from. For £200m we could get Pogba, Varane, Reus and probably have £50m to spare. Messi may well be worth £200m to Barcelona, but to Chelsea he's worth no more than £100m.

Plus I think he would find it hard to adjust to not being worshipped at this club, and unlike the board there, neither Jose nor Roman are going to bow to him.

I'd rather nurture Hazard.

Enriques hours are numbered..messi effect.

bullshit.

So the President said to Messi the he needs to wait until after the Atleti game before he can fire the coach, but don't worry win or lose he's fired. I don't buy that at all...

To be honest Messi has the power in Barca. He can do this, we all know.

not saying he doesn't I just don't believe that is what is actually going on. Why would the president go to Messi and tell him that? The whole world knows except Enrique? Not likely...

Not saying that he's coming, but:
1) the £200m "we could have spent on Pogba, Varane, Reus," we most certainly wouldn't spent on Pogba, Varane, and Reus. Spending £200m on Messi, arguably the greatest player ever, is different from deciding to spend £200m on a bunch of great talented players -- no club in their right mind would do it in one transfer window(well, unless you're Real or United, but we aren't them). You can't compare Pogba, Varane, Reus's marketing appeals to Messi's.
2) he wouldn't necessarily cost £200m. If Messi says he wants to leave, Barcelona can't keep him. You don't keep an unhappy player who doesn't want to play for the club anymore. So they'd be forced to sell. It all depends on Messi. If he says he wants to go just to a certain club, that would lower the price, because Barca would lose the leverage. Example: Cesc's transfer to Barcelona. Arsenal really didn't want to sell, Arsenal fans didn't want the club to sell, but Cesc wanted to leave, and he wanted to go just to Barcelona, so Arsenal were forced to sell him and sell him far cheaper than he would have normally cost.
So if Messi really wants to leave after this season, he'll leave, and not necessarily for £200m.

That said, I would have preferred if we signed Pogba, Varane, and Reus, but it would never happen.
