he`s ignoring the club..so if I was Roman, being filthy rich I would be tempted to not sell him until next summer. take him out of football for a full season now and scupper his WC selection chances.and continue to not pay his wages until he reported back where I would then have him clean the boots of youth players to earn his salary..Roman paid what £70million for a dogshit ugly painting? he could fuck over Costa for less.

He clearly has bad advisers, whoever they are. Things shouldn't have degraded to this point, even after that text message.

The text message is nothing though, Diego had been told well before that he wasn't wanted, hes just been an absolute bell fucking end.

I hate those radars and tables. Never have a slightest clue what is going on and how to read them. What's xG ? And how Aguero needs 50 shots to score 0.15 goal ? So he needs well over 300 shots to get one goal ? (50/0.15 > 300)

xG explanation articles: https://cartilagefreecaptain.sbnation.com/2015/4/10/8381071/football-statistics-expected-goals-michael-caley-deadspin    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/mar/30/expected-goals-big-football-data-leicester-city-norwich    http://statsbomb.com/2013/08/goal-expectation-and-efficiency/

It's nothing to dismiss my man. A lot of the top clubs use these advanced statistics to measure the club's performances. Roman Abramovich is even cited as being a fan of these metrics, I believe Carlo Ancelotti mentioned it in an interview or his new book.

The graphic is showing this: of all the strikers who have over 50 non-penalty-goals (NPG) over the past 3 seasons, if you took the number of goals they scored over that 3 year span and compared it to the number of expected goals (xG) they were supposed to score, you'll see which strikers outperformed their xG to the highest degree. So Griezmann scored 3.88 times more goals than he was expected to. It's highlighting who the better strikers are at scoring goals from shots that have low probabilities of going in. And to no surprise, Diego Costa is high on the list.

If only I knew that "/" stands for divided by as in "G/xG" - goals divided by expected goals. Because I thought "/" should be read as "or" - goals or expected goals. That was confusing, now it's very clear mate. I will of course read how they come up with numbers in expected goals calculations. Hopefully there won't be many confusions or shenanigans. Tables in general are created to show something in easy way so if they are more difficult to read than text that's frustrating.

Could you also point me to how to read those players radars? I have no clue why  different players have different peak number for the same attribute. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, the creator explained in greater detail the chart in his following tweets. lol

Here's the only article I could find on player radars: http://statsbomb.com/2016/04/understand-football-radars-for-mugs-and-muggles/  hope it helps.

Eh. No way I take Diego in front of goal over Ronaldo. That stat can say what it wants.

Misleading. Diego botches so many chances before the shot occurs. He finishes a lot of easy ones, but at times he fails to get a shot off or over dribbles really easy ones.

Think you should apply that to Costa as well. Conte may have been wrong in dumping Costa the way he did but let's not forget the latter caused some trouble in January when that interest from China came and he has been behaving like a petulant child all summer. Costa isn't the first player to be deemed unwanted by a manager but in no way he should be behaving the way he has.

Mate, are u supporting player power? Can you imagine our manager doing what Costa is doing and still staying at the club?

I understand that our strikers are no where the level that Costa is but he could have also handled this situation in a decent way instead of creating so much chaos. The manager's head is always on the line so I strongly hope that Conte doesnt apologies first, it should be Costa doing it with a public apology and then acknowledging his support to the club. Else we already have the reverse team or he can stay in Brazil paying fines to us.

Edit: Atletico's advice to Costa that he should get back to training is designed to ensure that if Chelsea end up suing Costa, there is no way Chelsea's lawyers can make any kind of case that Atleti were colluding with the player. They want to make absolutely sure that they can't end up being sued too.

Brilliant assumption. It could very well be right.
