Jase 43,479
The rumors are surely heating up but if I'm right, I've only seen the Spanish media reporting on this in the past few days. The English press have barely mentioned anything. Those Spanish lots running their own agenda?

Seems the Soanish press are desperate for it to happen and are sort of pressuring Diego to agitate for the move.

robdog 2,084
now CFC are warning AM about attempting to unsettle Costa. IMHO CFC have treated AM with the utmost respect. Remember when the two played against each other in the UCL a couple years ago? AM were using Tibo as their #1 & CFC allowed them let him play. Still AM shows no respect back to CFC. Really starting to dislike this club. oldportblue
Chelseadiurnal.com 1
Antonio Conte says Diego Costa is "very happy" at the club despite reports suggesting that he wants to leave Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian-born striker has been repeatedly linked with a move back to former club Atletico Madrid , with reports yesterday claiming that he had handed in a transfer request. However, in a press conference today, the Italian emphasised the importance of Costa to the team and hinted that he would be going nowhere this summer. ‘Diego is our player. He is a fantastic player, a player with a fundamental importance and there is no problem. He stays with us, he is working very hard, he is very happy to work with his teammates and with me in the new idea of football. He is a Chelsea player.‘He is an important player, a very strong player, one of the best in the world, and I am sure when he goes into our ideas he will score a lot of goals for us.’Costa, who joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid in 2014, scored 16 goals for Chelsea last season. Chelsea didn't let them do shit, Uefa straight up said the clause in the contract wasn't valid.  Quote  In response to media reports referring to the situation of Club Atlético de Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, UEFA would like to reiterate its position. The integrity of sporting competition is a fundamental principle for UEFA. Both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations contain clear provisions which strictly forbid any club to exert, or attempt to exert, any influence whatsoever over the players that another club may (or may not) field in a match. It follows that any provision in a private contract between clubs which might function in such a way as to influence who a club fields in a match is null, void and unenforceable so far as UEFA is concerned. Furthermore, any attempt to enforce such a provision would be a clear violation of both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations and would therefore be sanctioned accordingly.  http://www.uefa.org/about-uefa/administration/news/newsid=2088774.html  It's easy to go out and say "well yeah we let him play, of course", after Uefa has released that statement. robdog and Essien19

Essien19 1,415
Atletico wouldn't act like this if they hadn't asked Costa and his agent what they 'really' think. Classic play, let him go for >50 mil., he's not worth the hassle, imo. Peace.

Barbara 15,149
If I could I would quote myself over the last few preseason matches or this thread around in preseason. Costa is the kind of player that thrives on competitiveness, he never looks sharp, interest or intense in preseason. It's the odd game when he does. So I see nothing unexpected or that detracts from his quality - deficiencies and all. This is just who Costa is, he usually doesn't turn on killer mode even towards the end of preseason, it's been like that since the beginning. Nothing new Blue Armour, The Skipper and Fernando
calculatingInfinity 1,472
Costa needs a team that works around him. He is just not the kind of player that beats a bunch on his own. Instead he scores all his goals in the box from clever movement or counters where there isn't many players in the way.

Like he knows he's playing in a meaningless match so he can't bring himself to really try or care. Pretty poor attitude to have to be honest, but that's just who he is. Truthfully, though, it's probably for the best that he doesn't exert himself too much before the season kicks off. We need him 100% fit from the get go.
