Term-X 7,891
During the Torres Chelsea 'era', Spain were showing they could play with no forward, as was the sign of the times; and I started to question the importance of that position. Just goes to show, Costa doesn't wear the number but he's reinforced the value of a 9. sdrcfc
petre.ispirescu 4,928
also I trust our medical department better over Atletico's. I'm not sure the placenta thing was used for the hamstring, so I won't call them on that, but whatever treatment our medical team decides is the best, I'm positive is definitely the best.Still it would be a fucked up decision by Del Bosque to call him for this international break knowing that Spain are going to play against Slovakia and some other unknown national team. Paco Alcacer and Llorente should do the job for Spain this time, there is no need for Diego Costa. Barbara
gr123 167
The goals aside, I am getting slightly concerned that we've signed a striker with a totally fucked hamstring. Barely training and can only manage 1 game a week? I'm hoping that it's just a ploy to get Spain to stay away and its not true..

Barely training and can only manage 1 game a week? I'm hoping that it's just a ploy to get Spain to stay away and its not true..Yep me too, for me he is our own Aguero/RVP. Beast of a player usually but when injured will likely result in long time out(3-4 weeks on average). We need to sign a world class backup to share the burden if by the end of this season it is proven that Remy isn't capable of leading the line and Costa out injured quite a lot.I seriously think Cavani and Higuain might be available next summer for around 25-30m, Drogba will retire obviously. I really hope if it is proven that his hamstring is fucked up permanently and needs careful treatment, we sign a injury free striker like Benzema, Higuain, Cavani...etc. Never get injured and proven world class. OneMoSalah 8,886
Can't he just decline to go?Don't know if he can actually decline himself but managers like Harry Redknapp and Fergie have said before they have had players go to them and ask them to tell their national team coach they are injured or struggling with an injury or whatever. He does need to be watched very carefully, everything that happened to him towards the end of last season at Atleti under Simeone could potentially happen again if we aren't careful. iseah100

How can they not? They aren't contractually obligated to their countries. Carlos Vela continues to decline call ups to Mexico.
MrExcalibur100 7,124
I have no doubt in my mind Costa is the best striker in the world. Giving what he did with Atletico last year and what he has done with us, if he continues to bang them in, surely he has to be top 3 for Ballon d'Or in an ideal world. Ideal being the key word. Special Juan 28,141
Can only see him continuing this scoring in all honesty. I have watched again his movement for the header on Saturday and it's simple but fucking superb at the same time. Thor 2,712
I know as long as he keeps scoring we are happy, but he does seem to be carrying a knock. At least from what I noticed watching the game.He seemed to still make his cuts and nice movement when the opportunity was there, but his work rate and tracking of the ball was a bit down. I guess at the same time that could be due to laziness and just natural human nature of relaxing at times in some games. I guess you can't expect full intensity in every game, particularly one where you are dominating the whole game and there is no threat. But at the same time, it could be due to a slight injury or tightness. Whatever it is, he is still good enough to knock in goals and get us these wins that we couldn't get last season. He is an absolute game changer.
CHOULO19 24,332
He should come off 'injured' in the last few minutes against Arsenal and 'have to' miss the international matches. Muzchap, DYC., kellzfresh and 1 other

You don't mess around with hamstrings This guy has a will to win - something we have lacked, cannot fault any aspect of his game or attitude Barbara and TheOneChan95

You don't mess around with hamstrings This guy has a will to win - something we have lacked, cannot fault any aspect of his game or attitudeI didn't mean laziness as in not a hard worker or anything like that. Simply the type, being human nature, where a person gets comfortable, relaxes and eases their foot off the gas because we are winning comfortably. But then again, he might be tight and injured. Like I said, I don't know, but his running around the pitch seemed to be down a little. He is still bagging goals, so that is good. Just hoping he is healthy. I can't profess to know the situation either - but I do think he is taking it steady - not wanting to get injured As long as he keeps scoring - I'm cool We need to get Remy up-to-speed as well - so he can deputise when needed
bababoom 4,478
He's like a throwback striker, big, strong, fantastic movement and plenty of goals. The modern striker is more technical and nimble, they drop deep to collect the ball and rely on their dribbling/technical ability to create space and chances. i love the fact that he's an old fashioned striker, on saturday he wasn't having his best game but he still pops up and gets a goal, just brilliant. Popular Post! Daniel1980 1,425 Posted September 29, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted September 29, 2014 That's how Costa works on his chemistry with Fabregas :Sometimes I forget Costa is only 25. When I see him behave like a kid, I always go, "Huh?" before remembering that he's actually younger than Cesc and Willian.
