Pacquiao 1,834
His inability to win even a single aerial duel really gets on my nerves sometimes! why? that isn't Costa's game, never has been! he cant play as a target man like Drogba, the same way Suarez, Aguero and Benzema cant play as a target man.besides Costa has won 10 Ariel duels in 8 games this season, the same amount as Lewandowski, we shouldn't be hoofing balls up to Costa anyway, that's what gets on my nerves, we should be trying to give him more through balls and balls over the top for him to run onto, his movement is outstanding, we just lack so much creativity this season. Pacquiao 1,834
Michu 20 goals 2012/13 season, world class you say that is called a one season wonder! like Andy Johnson, are you trying to say Costa is a one season wonder even though he has proven himself year after year since he returned from knee surgery in 2012. stroey

By year after year for me got to be at least 5 years or more like Ibra, Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney...etc not players who got a couple of brilliant seasons here and there before fading into nothingness like Van Der Vaart, Adebayor...etc. Remember they were at one point top scorer in the league, best player in their team as well but we all know what happened to them now. didierforever

Torres declined due to injury like Falcao, Costa had the same knee injury at 22 yeras old and came back from it and got to the top, so i dont know how you can compre Torres to Costa. You then mention Ibra but he has never done it year after year in one of the top 2 leagues or in the CL! and you mention Rooney, who has been around in the PL since he was 16 years old! he has been crap for years now! Costa is more of a late bloomer like Drogba and Ian Wright which is why your post doesnt make much sense. You then compare him to Adebayor who has done nothing in the CL and has never had a season as good as Costa's best, and then you mention Van der Vaart which make me wonder what on earth you are talking about! That seems a very weird manner in which to provide the stat. Unless you're saying that you yourself have counted his won duels alone! didierforever

manpe 10,861
Can anybody explain to me why we play so many long balls to him? For his height and mass he is simply below average in aerial battles, such a waste to lump it up to him.Once Falcao fucks off we should find a target man to complement the team and attacking options. I hear there is a beast Ivorian tearing up the MLS in America, should look into it. didierforever, iseah100 and Pacquiao

MrBlueGuy 1,552
That is like saying getting double figure in goals are good but then you realize that it took the player 100 matches to do it, context is everything but that won't help arguments though right @Pacquiao? zolayes and DYC.
Pacquiao 1,834
and whats your point??? your acting like Costa is supposed to be winning all his Ariel duels like he is a target man striker! :confused:all that stat shows is how bad we are as a team to even be playing long balls up to him! we should be keeping the ball on the ground and be trying to open teams up by playing through them! King11Didier 916
I hate it when he is on the flank and no one is in the opposite box to finish the ball... I don't know if Mou told him to stay more on the flanks or he decides to do this, but look at the game against WHU - in the first half we are making good attack and no one was in their box. And it's not only in this game, that happens most of the time. I'm sure he could be more helpful for the team if he stays more often in the opposite box.
