Styles 9,790
People need to look past the players tbh. The reason so many of our top players are under performing massively comes down to one man mainly IMO.You are right but even then Fabregas has been massively found out. Oscar 441
Well, you guys wanted him at the n10 position and thought he could play the Jose mourinho n10 role.

didierforever 7,349
Well, you guys wanted him at the n10 position and thought he could play the Jose mourinho n10 role. but honestly, it was still better than cesc as a DLP.well, lets be honest. cesc is shit defensively. personally, i could not believe we wanted him when rakitic was available. maybe cos he was "homegrown".defensively, he is one of the worst players i have seen in football.his ball shielding is a grace which is a shocker because he has played with the kings of ball shielding (xavi and iniesta) and learned NOTHING.dont get me wrong. he will still get assists. his supporters (i remember barbara doing that), will still finding a way of putting stats and assists and saying that he is fine and good and all. but the end point is simply this, until he is here, we are always going to have a problem defensively in the middle of the pitch. it does not matter if we buy stones, varane, hummels or somehow clone maldini and beckenbauer and partner them, if he plays, anytime will feel the burden of his lax defending. Blue Colored Sky 1,807
Wasn't effective at no. 10 postion but real disaster was waiting when he was moved to midfield. Barry and McCarthy are too much challange now. I can't understand what Mourinho was thinking bringing Mikel off.
Pizy 18,897
It's sad to say, but Barca may have been proved right in getting rid. Perhaps that first half he had for us was a purple patch? Maybe this is his true level now. He'll play a nice pass or two here and there but otherwise gets bossed or is anonymous. It's hard watching him trying to chase after other midfielders or defending a player receiving the ball because he's so painfully slow. It's just plain frustrating watching him misplace even simple passes. He gives the ball away constantly. He seriously looks like one of those mid-late 30 year old players like Gerrard or Lampard who simply cannot do the things he once did. By far the most worrying area in my opinion. At least we have Baba to replace Ivanovic. We have no one who can offer anything near what Cesc gave us last season. Ramires/Mikel/RLC probably won't COMBINE for 18 PL assists for the remainder of their careers, much less in a single season.

Cesc has been playing since 16 and I read comments from Barca fans that he peaked at 23/24. Maybe it's true. Why we should assume that he will be playing beyond 30s ?Not get carried away now but I've seen enough to say that he's kinda luxury player. He has role to play, right, but he was another quick fix. When we couldn't break Sunderland's and Norwich's buses at the end of 13/14 season what we want to buy ? Someone to break those buses. What we can buy ? Cesc, he's available. Okey, let's buy Cesc. His presence solves certain problems but creates anothers. Mourinho now pick the least solid midfield he ever had. Cesc is no long term solution, just like Azpilicueta wasn't to left-sided worries.
Styles 9,790
We're going to have this turtle waddling about in midfield for the next few years because he's too big a name to be dropped. Such a depressing thought. The Chels, bababoom, Bosnian Blue and 1 other
