Why was we worst ? I thought he had a decent game and created a lot of chances. Bad set pieces though

He was by no means our worst player, far from it. But he was below his usual standard, especially from set pieces. Too much Christmas turkey.

Offensively I thought he was okayish. Trying too much at times when the opportunity just wasn't there - trying to find passes out of nowhere - otherwise not too bad. I thought his defensive positioning in this game was a bit off though, left holes behind many, many times. Especially in the second half when we were chasing the game, it was a one man pivot for most of those last 45 minutes, if you add to that the fact Matic wasn't having the game of his life and Iva/Cahill were non existent you have the recipe for disaster. I still haven't figured who was supposed to stick there with Matic after Ramires came on, but it certainly wasn't neither Cesc or Ramires.

Not at all excepting this guy to do MOTM appearances every game. Apart from that I didn't even think he was bad today. Maybe average but certainly not bad like Willian for instance.

The conundrum is though that we need him deep to organise our tempo. He touches the ball a lot more.

It is more to do with the fact that Oscar and Willian don't produce enough going forward hence why we need him further forward, which is a massive shame.

I think everyone is forgetting that, Cesc like playing in CM. He's said it time and time again that CM is his favorite position.

So idk how a signing like Pogba would make him feel? Of course he'd still play and still get a shit load of assists, but thats not where he "wants" to play. I doubt JM would shake that up.

Just to reiterate... For me as well, people are forgetting that he's been quality at CM and that that's his preferred position.

It really isn't his fault that Oscar and Willian aren't producing enough in the final third.
