New season starts in 50 days!

50 more days and Werner, Ziyech, Kai... In Chelsea shirt!!!:delight:

Sky Sports seem to think the Community Shield will be played on August 30th.

So in case of an FA Cup win we could potentially be facing the dippers again in just over a month but this time with Werner and Zieych involved. Don't think Havertz would make it just yet even if his transfer was completed in time, unless he skips the EL with Leverkusen (which seems rather unlikely at this point).

Insanely packed schedule that, hardly a couple of weeks break between seasons.

Hmm... It is not easy situation.

But regarding CS... We should not take it seriously or change any pre season plans because of this glorified friendly game.

Last game of the season is August 8th. First game of the next season is September 12th. So 35 days between. I guess players will get half of this period off?

Probably going back in training around August 25th so this CS game should be taken just as one pre season friendly game. And for me it makes more sense if CS is on Sunday September 6th. A week before PL start as usual.

About Havertz I think he will play last game for Leverkusen on August 10th against Inter just two days after our game against Bayern. And he already had period off so he should be ready.

Yeah you're right, probably will be a couple weeks break after the dead rubber at Bayern and back to training near the end of August. A potential CS match (need to win the cup first, remember!) would then serve as a pre-season friendly.

However, there is still another twist regarding season preparations (incl. a reason for the Community Shield scheduling) and that is the fucking international break from 3rd September to 8th September. So really there is likely to be less than a week of pre-season training before the internationals and the PL starts only four days after the break is over. That is just ridiculous.

Come to think of it, will the international matches at the start of September even take place? I don't know what's the fixtures but as we know, COVID-19 cases are flaring up again in some of the countries. Is it even safe to travel? Will they have serve quarantine etc?

The quick turnaround is actually pretty cool. Clubs will be quicker to get their business done, fans won't have to wait months like a normal summer to see their new toys on the pitch, and players won't take as long to get up to form/fitness since they won't have a super long holiday.

A club like ours who is getting business done early should be at an advantage.

Hopefully this puts to bed any ideas of a "first Xl", we're going to need all the squad depth we can get next season to avoid burnout.

Well if we are going to have constant back 4 rotation than fuck me now.

But I agree, with almost no pre season huge team depth is very important. This may fuck Pool.

9 players on the bench and 5 subs is also good thing for us.

But Frank has to have idea of starting XI.

Rotation is one thing, but my impression is that this season after 50 and more games he has no idea what is our best team.

Yeah hopefully the back four can be as settled as possible but in attack we will need a lot of rotation to keep everyone fresh. We have a lot of players who's performances don't dip when they switch positions which should hopefully help enormously.

The League Cup needs to be cancelled.

Would be harsh. The EFL cup brings in a lot of revenue for League One and Two clubs. They have already been decimated by the closure. If they want to cancel the EFL Cup the PL teams should put their hands in their pockets.

Okay, that is an exaggeration but the League Cup certainly presents clubs with problems next season because of the compressed nature of it. There are already reports, for examples, clubs playing in Europe are intending to play the kids in the competition.

Prepare for hell that is the 2020/21 Premier League season...

why are there even international breaks in a season were there is nothing to qualify for smh

anyway, that is why we will probably need our huge squad for once.
