Stones is not worth 50m not even 20m.

Why?

English, experienced for a 21 year old player, ball playing centre back, can't think of a better alternative.

How do you know that's he not worth 20 mil. these days?

Stones can't even start at Everton while Christensen has been one of the best CB's in Germany

Baba was one of the best LB's in Germany last year and look how he does in the PL.

As far as i can remember Stones had a pretty good game against Chelsea in September 2015.
I'm not arguing that there weren't bad games from Stones, but it wasn't all dark and gloomy.
Before the season started, he filled in a transfer request and they didn't let him go, no, they benched him after a bad spell and showed no faith whatsoever in him.
I can see him excel in the right environment because in my opinion the boy has got what it takes.
Otamendi was top notch last season in Spain, but if the coach isn't at his best, the guys struggle, don't really matter who they buy.

Speaking of money, sure we're talking about huge sums, but as i have learned from the past, before you decide to pay millions, you'd better be sure.
A Cuadrado-esque transfer is really bad, so i happily pay the additional charge for a premium product, imo.
Who would be better suited for this club?!
Stones knows the league because he plays here week in and week out, i think this factor has often been underestimated.
Do you know a guy at similar age, with similar credentials and experience for 20 mil? I for one don't, so i keep my fingers crossed for Stones.

Chelsea desperately need an English core, we passed on the likes of Shaw and Sterling, but we can't continue like this, if we don't make a serious move,
i can see him joining United or City soon and that would be a real shame, imo.

This is a hard one, 40 mil is a lot, especially because we don't have only him to recruit, but potentially another 3 to 4 players, at least. I wouldn't mind him here at all, Martinez doesn't know how to coach shit anyway, as long as we still bring in the other midfield and defence players.

He's a good player but not a good defender.

We need a top DEFENDER to lead our backline if Terry leaves. Also assuming that Zouma recovers back to his full capability, he should become first choice again. He'll continue to need a more experienced partner over the next couple of seasons to aid his development.

Rumour: Chelsea FC in discussions with Everton over Romelu Lukaku and John Stones

Quote

Chelsea FC are in discussions with Everton over the possible transfers of Romelu Lukaku and John Stones, according to the latest reports. Silly season rolls on.The rumours are really flying now. The latest story regarding Chelsea FC builds upon a couple which have been floating around for some time. The Blues are reportedly in negotiations with Everton over the purchase of former striker Romelu Lukaku and defender John StonesThe Metro picks up the report from Belgium, where sources claim that the two parties have held talks.Chelsea have reportedly opened talks over a double transfer raid for Everton stars Romelu Lukaku and John Stones…According to Belgian source HLN, Chelsea have already begun discussing a move for the pair with Everton.
Last summer was dominated by the Stones transfer saga. Chelsea put in multiple bids for the youngster and even openly admitted their pursuit. This caused some tension between Roberto Martinez and Jose Mourinho with the Toffees standing firm in their refusal to let him go.However, Everton have endured a thoroughly disappointing campaign and thus are vulnerable to a raid. Martinez has been sacked and there is much frustration surrounding the stagnation of the club.Lukaku has continued to prove his worth, hitting the back of the net on 18 occasions in the Premier League. His record, coupled with his impressive physical qualities, have drawn interest from European giants such as Bayern Munich.Everton value him at over £50 million but, due to aforementioned reasons, they may have to settle for a more modest fee should the striker push for a way out.

Stones, meanwhile, has failed to kick on. He entered this campaign as one of the most promising stars in the league, but he has taken a step back. Of course, he is still only 21-years-old and thus this may be that difficult campaign which all great players endure. Hence, Chelsea are still keen on signing him.Again, we must stress that these are all rumours from sources that I have never heard of before. Do not believe that talks between the two clubs are ongoing. However, do believe that both players are still firmly on Chelsea’s radar.

I absolutely hate WAGNH. Their reporters come across as cocky and know it all's.  I can remember a few rumours they've ridiculed and laughed off, which then happened.  Think Pato was one

Same; that Graham guy specialised in talking down to the readers.

This report is probably not from WAGNH though, maybe Dan Levene's paper.

Both Lukaku and Stones are overrated and overpriced :)

We have more than enough talent on CB position (Zouma, Miazga, Christiansen, ..) and that's why we have to look for quality defender thah can actually do his job - DEFEND! Someone like Koulibaly would be perfect fit ;)

Lukaku has great strenght and speed but he lacks the most important skill for attacker - composure at finishing. He had a lot of chances at Everton (more than he would have at Chelsea IMO) and he wasn't very clinical.

J.Stones is still the perfect signing

Quote

Despite his poor season, John Stones remains the perfect signing for Chelsea’s new-look team.Last summer, Chelsea didn’t make any secret of their admiration for Everton’s John Stones. They pursued him for the majority of the summer, though remaining ultimately unsuccessful in their pursuit of the Toffee’s prized possession. This left Chelsea in a poor position, forcing them to sign Papy Didjibodji on the last day of the transfer window. Jose Mourinho was subsequently sacked halfway through the season and the nightmare season was inevitable. Now, Chelsea have a new manager in Antonio Conte, a man known for his defensive acumen. His Juventus and Italian national side are built to defend, not allowing other teams to outscore them. Conte is tasked with rebuilding a defense that allowed 53 goals in the Premier League last season. The former Juventus man is one of the premier coaches in the world right now. He is credited with building the team that continues to boss Serie A. Juventus has won 5 league titles in a row, three of which under Conte. The last two have come under Massimo Allegri who has clearly benefited from inheriting the squad that Conte built.Fortunately for the Italian, he still has John Terry for one more season. The Englishman will be vital to Chelsea’s rebuilding. While he won’t play every game, his presence is valuable enough.Chelsea need his leadership in the team in order to regain their swagger. Without Terry, the Blues are devoid of leadership. Terry’s presence is vital. That being said, since he won’t be playing 38 Premier League matches, coupled with cup competitions, Conte will have to add defenders to the squad. The fullback situation will need addressing. Azpilicueta is arguably the only reliable option. The hope would be that the Spaniard plays on the right and Chelsea find a different left back.Baba Rahman cannot be trusted yet and Ivanovic playing on the right is equally as unreliable. While work on the fullbacks clearly needs to take place, let’s focus on Chelsea’s centre back situation.Terry can only be expected to play a limited role. This means that Chelsea will have to add at least once centre back to their ranks.Kurt Zouma is expected to be fully recovered by kickoff in August. This means that Zouma should realistically start, assuming he comes back from his injury at full strength. That leaves the other position up for grabs.Matt Miazga isn’t ready to fulfill that role. Gary Cahill isn’t the man either. The Englishman is on the wrong side of 30 and doesn’t represent a long-term solution. Furthermore, Cahill struggles when not partnered with a healthy Terry, something we truly haven’t seen since their title-winning season. While some of Chelsea’s academy and loan players are perhaps ready to make an impact, it would be risky to solely rely on them for this position. This means Christensen will likely spend another year on loan in Germany. Furthermore, Jake Clarke-Salter cannot be relied on heavily yet. Therefore, Conte will be forced to dip into the transfer market. And the Italian can do worse than persuading John Stones into a Stamford Bridge move.

Since being heavily linked with a West London move, Stones has struggled at Everton, failing to live up to the billing. While some would say that he isn’t ready for a move to a larger club, I would argue the contrary. The Englishman is destined for big things. Perhaps, he’s learned all that he can from Phil Jagielka as a defensive partner. With Conte’s defensive acumen, Stones would be learning under one of the best coaches in the world for his position.Furthermore, the prospect of learning from John Terry is a tempting offer. Especially since the 35-year-old can focus on working with both Stones and Zouma, instead of preparing himself for a 50-match season himself.Stones has all the natural talent he needs to be successful. He knows how to play the ball out of the back, even if there are still a few rough patches. He also knows how to defend pretty well for his young age. This is where Terry can aid in his tracking and his ability to read the game. This was always a major strength in the Chelsea captain’s repertoire. With Terry working closely with Stones, there’s no doubt in my mind that he can be successful at Stamford Bridge.Furthermore, a future partnership of Zouma-Stones for years to come in West London is mouth-watering, especially if both players go on to fulfill their full potential.Add in a capable fullback in Azpilicueta, who’s arguably the best full back defensively in the league and you can now begin to imagine a much stronger defense.Furthermore, if Conte attempts to sign a quality left back as well, Chelsea may well return to their rightful place toward the top of the table. That’s not even mentioning Courtois.Overall, Chelsea must dip into the transfer market for at least one centre back. With the future in mind, Conte could do a lot worse than John Stones. It’s also important to point out that because Stones has struggled this season, there is a good chance that they can sign him for cheaper than they would have last summer.Despite his poor season at Everton, Chelsea could do a lot worse than signing John Stones this summer.
