Heard on SSN that this is an 18month loan deal. That would be a pretty big vote of no-confidence in the lad and essentially guarantee he's not coming back (not that many will think he ever will anyway).

So weird to think that even after that loan has expired he'll still have 3 damn years left on his contract...

We really need to stop signing new players onto any more than 3 year contracts, and reward them with an extension if they're good enough.

ACF Fiorentina is pleased to announce the signing of Mohamed Salah on loan from Chelsea FC.

Salah, born in Basyoun, Egypt on 15 June 1992, has 35 senior Egypt caps to his name and scored 20 goals for the national side.

The loan agreement runs until 30 June 2015 with the possibility of extending the deal for the 2015/16 season and a further option of making the transfer permanent.

Hope he does well enough to earn a permanent move.

He needed it as he was clearly not making much progress here. His Chelsea career is not yet dead. Fiorentina are a good team and if he can shine there he'll have a decent chance of returning here, even if he does end up being loaned there again next season. He's still very young, he has got time.
