Because we need homegrown players and we're not developing anyone ourselves...

Same can be said for Rodriguez. How do we know he'll adapt to the English game? You seem to forget that he struggled a lot when he first joined wolfsburg.

We need homegrown players, yes... Do we need them to play big minutes for us in high profile fixtures? No. The association rule doesn't mean they have to play x-amount of games it just means they are on the 23man roster, like Bertrand was at the beginning of the year.

I want the best players, I'm sympathetic to Shaw because he is homegrown and a supporter I just don't want him for 20M. As for Rodriguez I've watched him and he looks fan-fucking-tastic for Wolfsburg. He make never adjust to the Prem, Shaw may never adjust to the pressure of playing for Chelsea.. these are things we can never answer. All I know is if I'm gonna pay 20m for a LB right now its not gonna be on Shaw, it is WITHOUT A DOUBT gonna be Rodriguez.

Well I'm glad your not Incharge of transfers and mourinho is. He recently said that an English core is important and he's looking to replace lampard, cole etc in the future :)

No I'm not in charge of transfers and I'm sure whatever Chelsea do will be whats best for the club. In my eyes paying 20m for an 18yr old LB is not in the best interest of the club, but then again I didn't think 50m for Torres was either...

Respect your opinion, but you can see why the majority of Chelsea fans would want shaw, even if Rodriguez is better at this very moment.

Luke Shaw imo. Rodriguez at 6-7m could be a steal but since Chelsea need HG players, shaw is my choice. why settle for average English talent like Lescott, Cleverly when the club can get a quality player. you can't hide 8 average HG players on the bench/reserves.

and re: the money argument. it goes out the window when you consider the profit made in January and the money saved from letting Cole and Eto'o go. only worry about money is if Shaw will be pressurised by the price tag

RR will not be £6/7m. He'll cost around the same as Shaw will.

I see Wolfsburg have missed on Champions League football next season. Anyone thinks now is the best time for Chelsea to try and sign this guy?

I'm a big admirer of him and his stats are impressive this season. Definitely one of the best left-backs in Europe right now, if not the best.
