The Ancelotti Thread

Would it be cheap if I tried to restart this conversation now?

Yes it would. Not just cheap, outright laughable if you think losing a game makes one manager better than the other. Also the fact that you have to rely on that to back up your argument.

At the end of the day we lost to set-pieces, and now we know where the problem is. First this, then RVP header against us at Old Trafford.

This is a thing I never said either...

It's just another example.. Mourinho has his own mistakes and he made the same one AGAIN, while Ancelotti's team were brave enough to attack in Gelsenkirchen so they are qualified after a horrible game.

I'd say good news. He doesn't come to City and make them organised side with all the quality they have, so that's a big plus. City may now turn for Benitez

However if Jose won't be here long term then the options of managers are now shorter.

Not really ... City could well turn to Ancelotti specially looking at what is happening at Madrid. He might be looking for a club in summer and City a Manager. He has PL exp, proven manager, one of the best in the business, knows how to built a solid team. if he comes to City they could built a very good team for the future.

Thats something I dont wish to see :P

If that happens then the home-grown rule should be put to effect immediately :P

Ancelottis league record isn't very good considering the teams he has had.

Personally I wouldn't be too fussed if he went to City.

In 17 years (including this season that seems he won't win it again) he won 3 Leagues coaching Juventus, Milan, CHelsea, PSG and Real Madrid. It's horrible.

I think Guardiola is going to be City next manager

I heard that City wanted the Besiktas coach....

He won it with AC, won it with Chelsea, with PSG, almost with Madrid ... plus 2 CLs ... Maybe he might not click but he brings a lot to his teams... he is like the complete package, there is a kinda of feel good factor abt his teams beside winning titles ... he is some who can take a club like City to the next level. I would be worried if he ends up at City or United for that matter ...

I disagree, he is a very good manager but not close to the complete package, Mou, Pep and when he was managing Fergie are light years ahead of him, Simeone aswell in my honest opinion.

He has weaknesses that has undermined his league record, all his teams have a worrying habit of getting complacent at the most inappropriate times, he has no idea how to properly adress slumps and isn't that good tactically.

I honestly wouldn't mind if he went City or United, he will have them competing at a high level yes, but no Ancelotti team will ever dominate a league.

All hell would break loose if they did that with so much still to play for. I can't see it...

Well, it is Palmeri after all....

But I do believe that Carlo is as good as gone. I think even the Madrid board must realize now that their chances of winning anything is almost zero. Exact same applies to Pellegrino and City.

If City go for Benitez, they can forget about winning the league. His league record is even worse than Ancelotti.

He's won several league titles but it's only 4 in 20 years of management (heck, even Avram Grant has more league titles than him!). Granted, he didn't stay long here and at PSG but he only managed 1 in 8 years at Milan and he had one of the best Milan sides ever. The problem with Ancelotti is that he doesn't quite know how to handle the pressure when the going gets tough in the league run-in. He nearly blew it with us in 09/10 and blew it with PSG in 11/12. Not to mention, he let the title slipped last season at Madrid and looks to be doing the same again this time around.

Its who comes in? Its not just as easy as saying "Carlo you're out!" What managers out there have the sort of resume and experience to go into the Real dressing room and have their respect? Klopp?
