Don't understand why people want Azpilicueta to start over Ivanovic...

It's understandable when you think about how shit he was crossing the ball last match. That, and he gets beaten for pace frequently down that right side.

Think he's too big of a weapon in the opposing box and too solid defensively to be left out in a game of this magnitude against such a good side like City though. He needs to start this one.

I honestly think Azpilicueta is highly overrated in this forum. I don't think he has a great cross, he's been making mistakes the matches he's played so far this season and imo Iva is by far the most solid between the two of them. I think he's a decent FB, he may be slightly better than Iva in the attack, but his cross isn't even a '8' and the rest of things Iva is the best man imo - by a fair lead.

What I am gonna post here, perhaps some of may not like it.

Regardless, here it is.

If Chelsea do not win today, especially at home, whom are they going to beat, then ?

Recent wins against mediocre teams, does not indicate much, in my view.

Either this team start winning against the top teams or say bye-bye to any top trophy in this season.

Mourinho's Chelsea project has just started. He's brought a completely new style and phylosophy to the club and it will take some time to see the actual results. So far everything has been going well in my opinion. While Chelsea couldn't beat United, Tottenham or Bayern, we were NOT helpless or bullied by ANY of these teams either, like City was against Bayern for example. In fact, we came close to beating all 3 of them. Especially Bayern which is Europe's most fierce club today. Add to that the fact we're doing well in the CL and the fact we're fighting for the top league spot.

If you are incapable of being optimist about our current situation now, then I don't think you'll ever be. Because the truth is, no matter how good we get, it will ALWAYS be difficult to beat top teams and we will NEVER preform perfectly in EVERY game nor will we EVER win 100% of the games. That's football.

Unfortunately some people can't see this. And every time their club loses a game or doesn't preform well in 1 match, it's like the apocalypse has arrived.

Personally, I'm very optimistic about Chelsea's future.

Well, let me remind you. This new Jose´s project we have seen for now. Somehow, the worst start, so far.

Well, being optimistic, I would love to be, believe me.

The real test will come today. Hopefully, I will see Chelsea winning.

Also, you do not need to remind me about teams not winning every game. Jose´s shrewed subs, worked well so far. Will it work forever ?

We don't have anyone to aim for in the box, plus City's threat from out wide this season (as in crosses) is there for anyone to see. Negredo and Aguero have scored a league high of 5 headed goals if I do remember correctly, and having Ivanovic at the back, who has been in good form in general this season, will simmer that threat down.

City's left side does not have pace either (except for Clichy, but he's not that good going forward), so we don't need to worry about that as much.

Also, add in the fact that Cesar has barely played, it's a bit unwise to throw him in now.

But as you said, Ivanovic must start in this one.
