Lol at the over-reaction to 1 average game. We bought a 32 year old striker, you must have been very delusional to think he'd come right in and start scoring like RVP.

He can score around 15 goals this season, anything else is a bonus. Other players in the team need to start doing their job and put the ball in the net. 4 goals in 4 games is just, ugh.

Also, people crying we didn't buy a world class striker, but that doesn't guarantee instant impact either. Cavani has scored 2 in 5 for PSG in a weaker league. Yet people are saying he needs time to settle.

Perhaps, uncalled for, but can one omit his clueless trolling ?

His posts are under staff monitoring atm and if we see that he is trolling we'll take action. For the mean time it is very easy to just ignore the posts.

Please, I do not mean to tell you how to run it here. However, sometimes the interpretation of banter & so call racist words gets interpreted wrongly here, at least in my view.

Well we're open to hearing any explanation and any opinion. I don't think anyone of the staff is an unreasonable person. But you have to realize that when the recipient of the banter feels like he is under a racial attack we have to take action by either making it stop or clarifying to him how it was not a racial attack because we can't have that on our forums.

Anyway, let's not get off topic more here. Please feel free to PM me if you wish to discuss this further.

OK I take your word for it. Sorry to bother you with this matter.

played well for me..Still has the killer instinct and reaction speed of the old eto! just a tad bit rusty.....

thanks for that. Amazing vid - despite the very annoying song - that showcases perfectly how useful he was creating/linking up plays, giving key passes, using his body and finishing. I think he looks great in all honesty. Those aren't the kind of mistakes we see Torres making - Torres' issues are technical while Eto'o's issues in this match seemed to be sharpness, if that was caused because of fitness, adapting in a new team, bad luck or a consequence of aging, I don't know, but I'm sure no one else (maybe except Schürrle who may have tied with him) created more chances for us than Eto'o did whether he was finishing, assisting, or giving key-passes. It's progress from Torres x10. I do hope it's not an aging thing because the class, the first touch, the vision and the intelligence are all clearly there. The finishing though I can't justify.

First, there is the obvious fact that Eto’o didn’t score, and while a striker can’t be expected to score in every game, there is still the fact that Eto’o missed two clear-cut scoring opportunities. One of those two was, more-or-less, an open goal, and he missed a further four times from scoring opportunities.

It’s not all doom and gloom for him though, and the simple fact that Eto’o had 6 shots should not be over-looked. Taking this game by itself, Eto’o had a shot every 15 minutes.

That is a very significant stat when you consider that Torres averaged a shot every 49 minutes last season, and so far this season is averaging one every 63 minutes. Similarly, Ba is only averaging 1 shot every 65 minutes this season (having had just one shot in 65 minutes against Aston Villa).

Eto’o may not have scored in this game, but when you have a striker who manages to shoot every 15 minutes, compared to another two who average a single shot every hour, you will always select the former. Moreover, all of the world’s top goals scorers will have the common statistic of shooting more than other players, and many of them won’t even have respectable conversion rates. This won’t matter however because if a player is shooting much more than most then he is far more likely to score more goals. Obviously.

So Chelsea can draw confidence from the fact that at least Eto’o seemed to create his own opportunities, find himself in goal scoring positions, and most of all, back himself to take the shot.

At this point there is little more that can be taken out of one performance. He wasn’t clinical, although the whole team has been similarly wasteful throughout the first four games. The optimists among us can put it down to him being rusty and take confidence from the number of shots he managed to take. The pessimists will say that a striker is judged on his goals, and that the 6 shots per game mean nothing if they are not scored.

For me, there may not have been an end product, but there certainly was danger.

Interesting piece. There are some stats, and the same vid posted above in addition to more to the article @ http://eplindex.com/40394/samuel-eto-o-statistical-analysis-everton-personal-highlights.html

Now, did I just read that Torres is (or has ever been) more technical than Eto'o?
