agbotek 7
Gundogan is a decent player, with good workrate, nice penalty taker. However, Ramires is the man for me. Better work rate, finishing like a striker, great awareness and speed.
Pizy 18,985
Srsly? Well, first of all I never talked about spurs, which would be a step down from dortmund. But City need someone like him even more than us. An Ilkay would be a far better replacement for Xavi than CescCity just spent 30m+ on Fernandinho. Can't see them spending even more than that and benching one of them.United could've really done with him but bought Fellaini and are still after that kid from Bilbao. Our biggest rival for him in the league if we ever wanted him would be Arsenal. Özil, Mertesacker, Podolski, and Gnabry would make it an attractive place for him.

Pizy 18,985
Fernandinho has not been very good at all for City.Right, but you think they'd spunk another 30m on a player in that same position the very next year?
Atlas Lion 1,223
Arsenal, United, City and Barca would need a player like him too. Would start in all 5 teams and be the best player in all of those aside from barca wouldnt he ?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giaB-34cNVwhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZma0U7MTu0http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKqsb2B5oi4Unbelievable. We should break the bank for this guy. We need him so much like every premier league team who dont have a midfield, maybe aside from arsenal. Can't see him starting over Iniesta, Busquets, and Cesc atm

Korea 734
I think Arsenal gets one of the german cms (Benders/Illkay)....especially with Ozil there now.I don't think he is a realistic possibility for us.

But City need someone like him even more than us. An Ilkay would be a far better replacement for Xavi than CescNo we need him a lot more, City have Toure and Fernandino, two midfielders who can move the ball well, we only have Lampard in that aspect who is a lot slower. I said he'll improve them, but I don't see them going after him after they just got Fernandinho for 30-40 million. He's better than Cesc, but it doesn't say it's a reason to spend 40m on him. This isn't a video game you know...
Pizy 18,985
I think if we offered something between £30-35m they'd at least think about it. He's only 22 and already world class so whoever gets him is probably going to have to pay crazy money. This is one of those times where the club should just pay whatever it takes. A position we've been crying out for for the last few years.

Korea 734
Got to ask, how the hell can you say that?A lot of factors...His current team is better than ours in both league play and in Europe.Him and Reus are the players that BVB will build for..I'm not really confident that Rambo-Iilkay would be a good match.... I would welcome it with open arms, but seeing how our board spent all their funds on ams, I doubt they would splash money on a cm for once.... Think Ramires and Gündogan would be brilliant together.Only way he moves though is if some club offers them money they'd be stupid to turn down. Which we can and should. Someone like Ilkay so we can dominate midfield and posession for once.

Better work rate, finishing like a striker, great awareness and speed.Ramires' weakness is a big one for a midfielder: he can't pass for shit.Gundogan on the other hand can act as a DLP or box-to-box, but tends to do a bit of both. All day everyday: Gundogan > Ramires. The ideal situation though would be a pairing of the both of them though!

Not sure if it's fair to say one is better than the other when they are both different type of players. It all depends on what kind of midfielder do you want. If you are looking for pure B2B midfielder, then Ramires wins it all day. If you want a deep lying playmaker, a passer of the ball, then Gundogan is obviously way better at it. Rmpr 8,977
Gundogan would be just perfect, but Lampard would have to leave...He can play with both Mikel and Ramires without compromising the pivot and still allow space for MVG and Chalobah to develop, fixing almost all our ongoing problems! He also has a lot of mental strength and experience, which is something we very much need.
