I am pretty sure the chant about Gerrard slipping on his fucking arse and giving it to Demba Ba will continue, as it was a legendary moment for more teams, not just us :D

Thanks fot the memories and THOSE goals. Best of luck in Turkey Ba, you are a very likeable guy. And hopefully, they have a strawberry syrup in Istanbul!

Good deal for all parties. He'll definitely play more and score more in Turkey, Beskitas get a good player and a good guy and we seem to have actually made a profit on the transfer fee at least.

Great to see Jose continuing to mould the squad he wants and not just remove the dead wood but actually get very good money for it which we're investing sensibly.

Kalou,dd, anelka, sturridge and now ba. 5 strikers who have gone since Torres.

How many games did Kalou play as striker anyway? Doubt he was regarded as one in Chelsea. Even Anelka was a winger/midfielder/goalkeeper/steward in his more recent time, but granted, he was still a central forward... somewhat. But they were both moved aside for a superior player, which is fair enough. The story of Sturridge however is tragic and shouldn't have happened. Ba on the other hand was never going to regularly spearhead our attacks, he was bought as an attempt to patch our weaknesses, not fix them. Now that we have (hopefully) fixed them, it was the right time for him to move. For all his faults he still had his strengths and was often very useful, so I guess we can call his spell as a 'patch' successful.

The bromance is over. :(

The near £4m we save in yearly wages is more valuable, imo.

I agree. The £4,7m will still cover his remaining £4m FFP book value and to get him off the wage bill is good. Last season he cost the club around £6m with the fee amortisation and wages but now there's around £5m 'profit' for the 14/15 fiscal year. Still good business IMO.

Small point, but the 14/15 FFP profit is £750k only :

I know but I was counting the wages there also. A better choice of word would then have been saving £5m (actually over £6m according to Jake Cohen there) but the point still stands.
