Come on, it's not like we played the champions of Cyprus last night. It's not like he had countless goalscoring opportunities but wasted them. He was up against a strong, balanced defence, against a team that ended their last season undefeated. I really don't understand why some of the fans are being so harsh on him.

Last season he had a goal drought that lasted 24 games, and he had a lot more support than he has now. This season he has scored 3 goals in 7 games, 2 of them being against Man City and Newcastle, and this imo is a great improvement. RDM has to start with Oscar and Mata instead of Bertrand and Ramires, and I'm sure he'll start scoring a lot more.

I think people still stick up for this guy way too much. If we had drogba would he have scored? Probably, did Torres ever look like scoring? His job, His one SOLE job is to notch. He doesn't do it often enough, People say he had 4 players around him etc - If his movement was good enough they wouldn't be able to track him. I find it genuinely unexplainable how he is getting into the team ahead of Sturridge. Sturridge again since his goalscoring record at Bolton has NEVER been played up top for Chelsea for even 3 games straight. Embarassing. Sturridge proved for England in the Olympics he can score so if this guy can't then Sturridge should get his chance.

As I said previously Torres has until the winter transfer market to turn things around. My main concern is the insistence of him playing 90 minutes every game and being an automatic starter - he has not earned such a right and should be rotated with Sturridge.

As much as I personally criticize Torres if he has 15 goals in all competitions(except the Club World Cup) and at least 7 winning goals by January I'd be happy with his contribution. If not he should be sold so we get his wages off our books even at a massive loss, because his value will continue to plummet and we would end up forking out his £ 9,100,000 per year until his contract is over.

I'm not interested in excuses, these are the facts - we are the Champions of Europe and we have a striker who rarely gets into goal scoring positions, rarely shoots and rarely beats a defender. This is a major problem for the Club, we have put all of our eggs in the Torres basket he is being paid like a World Class player, yet all we hear is excuses. Well I'm tired of excuses, most of our fans are tired of excuses. It's unacceptable that we should have the worst striker in any Top Club in Europe - while paying him a fortune.

He basically never shoots, even when he has the chance he usually takes another touch so the defender have that extra second to close him down. Reminds me of Berbatov's first season at MU, where he would pass when he was in a better goal scoring position(maybe so Cronaldo likes him who knows) - but Berbatov still offered way more than Torres in the attacking department even though he never really became first choice at MU.

Arsenal in the Champions League quarters/semis where Liverpool won 4-2 IIRC, Liverpool 4-0 Blackburn, Liverpool 2-0 Chelsea. There was quite a few more as well but look at some of his compilation of goals and you would see that he scored some fantastic goals at Liverpool

Absolute worst case scenario is that Torres stays shit untill about early December, he starts banging in goals leading us to trust him to be the main striker again. This continues through January meaning we see no need to buy a Striker. Then on the 1st of February the switch turns off again and Torres returns to being shit for the rest of the season...

Somehow, with our luck with Strikers, I can see this happening.

When Liverpool beat us 2-0 I am sure his second goals was from a distance but even if it wasnt I know it was a very clinical finish. I noticed some things that make torres look bad.

Torres doesnt have a style of play. He plays in the wings today, he stands in the front without moving tomorow, he tries to dribble through 3 defenders and loses the ball instead of just passing in the next match.

Watch falcao, This is his style of play.

1. he comes deep to recieve the pass, passes it, then makes a run foward for the through pass or cross

2. He could also stand with the defender raise his hands just up for the midfielder to give him the through ball and start making a run for the pass. (even when the midfielder doesnt give he doesnt just dissapear but tries again)

3. When he is marked he pulls the defenders away and PASSES THE BALL TO THE WINGER OR MIDFIELDER and runs back incase of a one two.

Dilemma

The last time i remember torres making a run to recieve a pass is against newcastle and hazard passed to him.

If you were a midfielder you will have no idea how to play with torres because he doesnt have a particular style of play.

He used to make runs in liverpool and gerrad finds him with long balls but now he just stands straight.

Only big strikers like Drogba and Ibrahimovic should stand straight and recieve ball since they are big enough to not fall down all the time like torres

Smaller strikers like tevez, aguero and villa pass back to the midfielder quickly and run foward incase of a one-two pass.

Solution

1. Torres should hold the ball to his feet and pass instead of trying to dribble and looking for the foul.

2. I hope oscar has taught torres how to shoot without looking at the goal just like drogba (torres is a freakin striker SHOOOOT)

3. Torres should pass when surrounded by three players instead of trying to do everything on his own He loses the ball more than anybody in chelsea(sometimes because of peter cech) he is starting to look like suarez in my eyes.

4. Torres must make runs or he will score less than 20 goals fact.

5. Torres should scream or point(like villa) to the midfielder where he wants the ball to be played instead of just hoping they can read his mind

6. Peter cech should stop hoofing the ball in the air for torres, he is no drogba he cant win any ball in the air against any defender thats why chelsea dont score with headers again.
