Tortilla9 390
http://www.thefootballramble.com/index.php/blog/entry/saintly-nando-will-be-chelseas-cold-eyed-killerDon't let that baby/pretty boy face fool you. You don't get to this level without having some major ambition and self-centeredness. If he didn't have ambition he'd still be at Atleti for God's sake.Reminds me of what Tim Howard said about Torres a few years ago. "I think he's been one of the top in the world. He's got speed, and he's got a great sense for the goal, which all great strikers have. The craziest thing about Torres is that as silky smooth as he is, he's a scrapper as well. When he gets in the box, it's like you don't think this flashy guy is going to get in there. And he sticks his feet in, he sticks his head in. He knows as he gets closer to the goal the importance of really fighting and battling. He seems to always hit the target, and he hits it with pace, which makes it really difficult for a goalkeeper." Term-X 7,891
http://www.thefootba...old-eyed-killerGood article. The week’s events recall a television interview Torres gave to Canal+ shortly after arriving at Liverpool. Was it disappointing, the interview asked, to not be in a cosmopolitan city like London for his big move abroad? He looked ahead blankly. “I didn’t come here as a tourist,” he bluntly replied. Torres has moved south for one reason only; to fulfil every iota of his potential, and his determination bodes well for Chelsea.

Kostas 1,468
Torres: Gerrard backed me over Liverpool exitFERNANDO Torres says Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard backed him over his decision to leave the Anfield club for Chelsea. Gerrard was the on the verge of making the same move in the summer of 2005 after lifting the Champions League trophy with the Reds. And Torres says that his former team-mate has supported him from the moment Chelsea registered their interest in signing him 10 days before the close of the transfer window. "He [Gerrard] was one of the first ones who called me and supported me and was hoping the best for me if anything happened," said the new Chelsea number nine. "Maybe he was was helping me and supporting me because he was in that situation himself, I don't know. But he has been a very good friend and team-mate from the first day until the last one." When asked if Gerrard had pleaded with him to stay at Anfield, Torres replied: "No he only wanted the best for me so he made me make the decision and he told me he would be with me and it didn't matter what decision I made." But Gerrard stance differed with that of his employers as the Blues' new striker revealed the Liverpool board had asked him to change his mind. Torres added: "They didn't want me to leave, they tried to ask me to stay but I told them my decision was taken and I was never going to change my mind. "When you the chance to join a team that can achieve the Champions League and win the Premier League and you are in the right age to do that you can't say no."Source
