Leif 6,006
This was the first game since his Atletico Madrid days that Torres scored a brace in the 1st half vs. an away side.
Laylabelle 9,535
Don't think so. The English authority are not so helpful to us. Remember how the FA Cup semi final and 1st leg against Barcelona? I know we have the long traveling to do but if the authority really want to help us, they would have done so long time ago. And besides, don't think there is any free dates to play the cup tie at a later date especially with the semi final matches to be played in January.Exactly and been the odd time teams playing Europa have had to play on Thursday and again on Saturday with a 12:45 kick off so very little chance and its on the telly..and no the only time could be played is mid January by the looks so no chance...grin and bear it and all
Stingray 9,441
Damned. I can't myself to vote Torres Man of the Match. He did play well though, I admit it. His performance do not wipe out the horror period we had with him, I think. It is time for a confirmation on that performance now. It would be awesome if he really reverted bak to the old Torres. Way to go so far, Benitez:-)
Magic Lamps 11,692
Next game against either Monterrey from Mexico or Hyundai in Toyota (sounds strange but the team is called Hyundai Ulsan and the city is Toyota) in 5 days, 19:30 local time, i guess that's about 10:30 in England so I'll have to watch it during my last accounting class before the mid-term exam, I'll take my laptop with me . I expect us to take that hurdle with ease. the final in Yokohama will be a little tougher against Corinithians probably. They got a decent player in paulinho, but the rest is rather average our overall team value is around 8 times theirs and brazilian coaches tend to be tactically inferior to european top coaches so hopefully Rafa does us no shame. Hope jetlag will be no factor cos we are the last team to arrive.

Would we rather face Monterrey or Hyundai? Monterrey did win the Concacaf CL these past two years in a row. At the end of the day, I expect a win against either side really. Magic Lamps 11,692
correct monterray are actually a decent side move the ball around very well and have a few decent goal scoring attackers with tricky feetyeah and i really expect them to win, but all their qualities are on a level way below us, so if we are clever enough we can thrash them. If we were still the physical side we were one or two years ago, i would be already sure we would have this in our bag as neither Asians nor south Americans are of recognisable size, now we are no different, we have to win this on a technical level. But when we maintain pace and concentration and Rafa prepares us well for these rather unknown opponents, they will not be a match for a -hopefully- kick-started Torres + mazacar + Lamps. CHOULO19 24,332
I hate to be the pessimistic cunt (that I am ) but today really could have been another West ham. It certainly was similar in terms of performance. We literally only controlled a third of the game: the starting 15mins of each half and we got battered for the other 60 mins. If it weren't for Larson gifting us the penalty just before HT and Mata scoring just after we could have been looking at another defeat imho. If it weren't for Luiz being brilliant and winning every header in the box and Cech's two amazing FK saves we would have definitely conceded more. Ollie 4,400
Wasn't happy with the overall performance because we shouldn't have let them attack us so much but i suppose at 3-0, the game was dead. Happy with the result, happy with Torres because he showed some confidence today and he took responsibility as the striker to help the team. He was excellent today, going to Japan in this mood can only be good. Mata is a magician, i love him but Torres has to get the motm. This was a glimpse of the real Torres today. We might not get it every week but it shows it's still in there somewhere.
