Looked like you started this thread in December - saying Chelsea vs Benfica in final?

If not - who did start it? - well done to them :)

I started the thread but never said anything about it will be Chelsea v Benfica in the final.

Have always edited the 1st post by adding in new/latest fixtures after every round.

They change the thread title after every round.

Small detail but think some of you already know that Benfica will face Porto away next Sunday, just 3 days before the EL final and they need only 4 points from last 3 games to win the title.

Well, Porto have won today which means Benfica can't win the title this weekend and they would have to field a relatively strong side in that game next weekend.

Hey all,

We are a travel agency (www.nettur.com.tr) based in Istanbul, Turkey. We bought a lot of tickets hoping that Fenerbahce would make it to the finals, but they couldn't. :-(

And now I am trying to get there as many Chelsea fans as possible, so you can support the team and kick Benfica's ass :-)

We have the final batch of 30 tickets (first category Gold Package) for sale now. We are looking to sell any number of tickets FOR FACE VALUE (835 euros incl. VAT) if anyone is interested.
I will send you a confirmation e-mail upon purchase and will hand you the physical ticket on Wed., May 15 at 11:00 am in Westcord Fashion Hotel Amsterdam Lobby.
I can e-mail you the payment invoice if you like, proving our rights to tickets. Please e-mail [email protected] if you are interested.
Looking forward to hearing from you and good luck on the final. I will be there to support Chelsea, too. :-)

Good news for us as Benfica just drew at home against Estoril, narrowing the gap between them and Porto to only two points. Three days before the Europa League final they play each other in a match that virtually seals the title so now they really have to go for the win instead of even thinking about resting players for Amsterdam.

Portuguese league is a weird one, there's only a couple of rounds left and both Benfica and Porto are still unbeaten in the league. Imagine if they draw next week and neither lose their last game, one of them would end the season unbeaten and still not win the title. :noexpression:

One more reason to beat Spurs on Wednesday! We will have secured the Champions League spot and play Aston Villa on Saturday 11th. We could rest some key players and have one more day free, whereas Benfica play on Sunday 12th and must play their strongest side.

Oh god please beat Spurs!!

And if we win on Weds, we can relax until the final. Looking good for us, well done Estoril whoever you are... Hang on...they can't beat Estoril at home in a massive must win game for them when it's crunch time in the league? That's pretty bad.

Think they have moved the Porto v Benfica game to Saturday, 11th May. Porto's website has stated so.

http://www.fcporto.pt/English/hp_english.asp

See their 'Next Game' bar on the right hand side.

EDIT: But Benfica's site is listing that game to be played on Sunday....

There are banana peels in every league. Benfica had won 9 straight games in the league and a slip was inevitable. Estoril played well, didn't park the bus, attacked, and are full marks for the result. One thing is for sure, even if Benfica had won today, they would play their 100% full strength team against Porto on Saturday, so this result doesn't impact the Europa League game too much. As someone else said, the Portuguese league is a strange one with Porto and Benfica head and shoulders above the other teams it ends up coming down essentially to a one game play-off for the title. Benfica can still tie the Porto game and wrap it up for all intents and purposes. In the end Benfica is two games away from the end of the league season in first place, in the final of the Europa League, and in the final of the Portuguese Cup. We can win the treble or win nothing. Squeeky bum season for the Benfiquistas.

Chelsea's game on Wednesday is hugely important, let's hope Chelsea wrap up the CL spot and the Benfica/Chelsea final is played with both teams 100% concentrated on that game so that we witness a great game!

When is the Porto v Benfica game? Saturday or Sunday?

Seeing different sources stating different days!
