Regarding Rafa's subs, when was the last time we had a manager good at that?

RDM and AVB weren't much cop at it, Carlo was horrendous when it came to trying to change a game from the bench but never got half the stick Rafa got.

Regarding his worst start as a manager for Roman. Who else had Terry out for all bar 20 minutes of their first 16 games? Apart from AVB and RDM, every manager under Roman has had a better and more balanced team to work with. Its no coincidence AVB and Rafa are bottom of this particular table.

If he had this start with one of our 04-09 squad's fair enough, but you can't compare his start to manager's who took over this team at their peak.

Mourinho coming to me is the one option that makes sense....but thats probably the reason we will end up with a random name.

Roman must see he has to listen and all control from the manager. Pep backfired....Who could blamed anyone else for not being up for taking it.

Project Chelsea

Apparently, David Moyes is favourite to be appointed as a new Chelsea manager. Magnificent manager, made miracles at Everton turning them into proper team. To achieve success at Stamford Bridge he must be given time. Not a kind of a manager who can improve deteriorating team in just few seconds after one training session. Perfect one for transition time - think twice what you want Roman.

If I was Moyes - I'd say 'No'... I think he likes the Man U hotseat personally, he's a good manager, gives a team a work ethic - but not necessarily an 'attractive' style of football.

Has delivered consistently on a small budget - always worries me, if people get an open chequebook, do they all turn into Mark Hughes - signing anything that moves... on ridiculous wages...

Moyes also brings through some youth... so a good manager, but like others have said - wouldn't have thought he was a Roman'esqu appointment - but you know what, that could be good!

Terry should not be taken into consideration as we have not exactly been leaking goals, it is our home form that has been abysmal that is pertinent to Rafa's reign - his team selection & tactical substitutions against sides that park the bus have led to his own downfall & playing Torres ahead of Ba says it all! No one to blame but himself I'm afraid.

The problem I have with Moyes is that I'm not sure what I'd end up watching on the pitch. The guy has always worked with his back against the wall, surviving rather than thriving. Look at Fellaini for example. Bought as a DM, started his Everton career there but moved forward because it's what's best for Everton in the short-term. That's not the type of problem he'd face at Chelsea.

There's a massive difference between the job you're required to do when you're living off scraps and feeding the masses to the job you need to do when you're working with the finest ingredients. I'm not saying he couldn't do it, but that I don't know if he could do it.

If we're honestly looking at the Premier League for a guy from (let's be honest) the level below then surely Martinez should be in the discussion too. Works wonders at a club who have no business being in the Premier League and still manages to get them play bright, inventive, attacking football. I also think he's responsible for a lot of the good stuff at Swansea that Rodgers and now Laudrup benefitted from.

We can't be hiring Moyes, Martinez and what not. We need a strong character, someone who demands respect. None these timid managers, no matter how talented they are. Managing a big club with big players and big expectations are completely different to what they have experienced in their careers. We need someone who is already used to that. AVB was a clear example of a talented coach with no experience at a big club like Chelsea and look how he failed. I still like AVB but we should have got him after a few years at Spurs rather than the other way around.

Mourinho would be nice, but this last year he's had at Real is really worrying me. He's hurt his rep alot imo. I wish Ballack was an experienced coach already, I would love a guy like that. Just exudes confidence and respect.
