Not sure about Fabregas at the moment. Yeah, he's playing as an example, his stats are quite up there. However, he still seems to be finding his natural leadership role within this team.. If he is to be captain, he must stop with the constant flirting with Arsenal. Remarks like his "invincibles" ones are, understandable but, not what you really want to hear from your club captain.

Instead of the "who's been here the longest" I cosign the calls to make someone like Hazard our captain. He may not have demonstrated leadership as yet, but I think it would act as positive reinforcement from Mourinho. It would be Mourinho saying "I understand you're still young, but you're the future of this club.. So lead them". There's no doubt Eden is our best player right now.

Giving him the armband upon Terry's retirement will give him a lot of confidence. Ivanovic, Matic & Cahill will be there to guide him and they obviously respect him.

Cesc, experienced, calm team player, can do nearly everything, captain at Arsenal. Cahill is too weak mentally for me, okay he tries his best and loves chelsea but a leader? Seems to weak, also can't see him critizising players when he makes so many mistakes himself.

I think soon we'll have to include Costa as a candidate as well. He IS a great leader, and he runs his socks off. He kind of reminds of Drogba, of course not in playing styles but in terms of mentality. If he could speak English I would say why not.

How Cahill leads this poll is beyond me. Maybe I've been spoilt by JT but I'd always want an authoritative figure to be leading us. Cahill is meek and inoffensive; we'd lose a little bit of that edge we have about us.

I think JT might surprise a few with just how long he has got left.

He is 34 soon as is showing no serious signs of decline. Most player's are serious shadows of former selves at this age yet Terry is still playing to a high standard.

Sometimes there are exceptions to the usual rule and I honestly believe JT might just be one of the exceptions like Zanetti, Giggs and Maldini, all maintained a serious high level until 38, I wouldn't be atall surprised if JT does the same and if he does that rules Cahill and Ivanovic out of contention as there be well into their 30s by then unless they join the elite group of duracel bunny's aswell.
