Not the worst draw we could've got. Confident that we can get through to the semis if we play a full strength team (maybe with Ake, Remy and Zouma over JT, Costa and Matic).

Could really see Bournemouth beating Liverpool and Newcastle giving Spurs problems. Saints will cruise into the last 4 as should we tbh.

Another thing I've noticed is that since Jose's come back, we've been getting only away fixtures in the cup competitions.

In the league cup we had:

Last season: Swindon away, Arsenal away, Sunderland away. This season : Shrewsbury away, now Derby away

In the FA cup we had:

Last season: Derby away, Man City away

The only home games we've had under Jose have been Stoke in the Fa Cup last season and Bolton in the league cup this season.

So that's 7 away total and only 2 at home. That's weird.

Ties to be played 16th/17th December. Maybe we could take Mo Salah up there and leave him there over Christmas. A naughty child could wake up with a lump of coal and a Mo Salah in their stocking on Christmas Day...

give them Mikel :readthemessage:

Excellent work Newcastle. With City out, even more desperate than before in wanting us to win the League Cup.

As for the quarter finals draw, not the worst tie but could have been slightly better. Will be a tricky tie, just like the FA Cup game there last season, but a winnable one nonetheless.

Sounds like a easy game however we did struggle a bit with Shrewsbury :(

Don't need a separate thread for the same topic. Have merged with this.

That's nothing, I remember a team we drew last season or the season before (I can't remember who, maybe Boro) had something like 12 consecutive away draws before they were draw at home to us!
