Eddie Newton was on Premiere League Today on PLTV and one of the more interesting he said is that Azpi was a 'squad' signing. He more or less said that he is not going to take Iva's place in the starting XI anytime soon.

He said what?! :o

How can he say that in front of live television with millions watching from around the world?! AND more importantly, if he's not gonna take Ivanovic's place anytime soon, are we just gonna flog to him death and allow him to play with his horrible form right now?!!

We are fucked then because Branna is terrible at RB.

Don't shoot the messenger! :P

He was asked particularly about Cesar and said that "he was a signing to strengthen the squad but when you have an established RB like Iva, you have to start him"

BTW Eddie, is terrible at talking to the media! Way too honest.

So what if Ivanovic is an established player in the starting XI? That doesn't mean he is undroppable! I would find it rather ridiculous if RDM and his staffs fail realize Ivanovic's has been in dire form and continue to play him. Bench him and give Azpilicueta a chance FHS.

Seriously guys, Bran might've had a bad start to the season but that doesn't mean he's automatically gone shit. Just give him time. If he doesn't perform for a prolonged period of time Azpilicueta will take his spot, it's logical.

AVB was far too honest too last season, don't think the higher powers of the club were too happy with his comments haha. Robbie handles the media just right but it was class when Jose used to say what he wants even as arrogant as it sounds.

Newton is an idiot then, its not like Ivan has been decent s far, he has been terrible most of the time. Its a bit worrying that they may be scared to drop the likes of Ivanovic, who does not have that much power in the dressing room.

I hope Di Matteo does not take much advice from him.

And did you see the rest of the interview:

Ramires will be kept on the wing (fuck that)

Lampard is basically untouchable and won't be dropped anytime soon (fuck that)

Oscar will only be playing either outwide or behind Torres (so else will cover for Lampard apart from Romeu)

Bollocks, bollocks, bollocks.

Most of what you've said is sensationalised.

Ramires is not being kept on the wing, all EN said was that he plays there because it bring balance to the side. Doesn't automatically mean he'll play there forever.

In the interview he actually said that now that Lampard's getting old he should understand that he won't start every game.

He also said that Oscar has the capability to play in the pivot perfectly fine, he just isn't ready yet completely. All he said was that he's more natural in the number 10 and number 7 position, doesn't mean that he'll only play there.

Why do people view everything in a cynical way?

When are we going to see him play i don't want to see another talent getting destroyed. He was so highly rated at Marseille he is the rightback we need and if we start him he may prove himself.

He provides excellent crosses,he has great movement and he can defend good aswell he is basically like Cole.

He didn't have much of a pre-season (some will say the Olympics counts - but I don't recall him even playing?), so there is no mystery as to why he hasn't played yet. If he doesn't feature against Stoke, he will definitely play against Wolves next week.

Very impressed with him last night. He actually attacked far more frequently than I have seen him do for Marseilles. His style of defensive play will adhere him quickly as he is very tenacious and refuses to give up if he loses out on the first tackle. A very, very good debut.
